White or Ivory

I guess it depends on the dress color you get. But I think if you get a white dress you could go with an ivory veil or vice versa. I honestly feel like you can’t go wrong if you did white veil and white dress.

I think it really depends on what the actual shade of the white or ivory is. When I went dress shopping, most of the dresses weren't a true white, they were ivory because true white photographs more blue and doesn't look good with a lot of skin tones, so the majority of dresses come in an actual ivory shade.

I would get Ivory. The majority of gowns these days are ivory.

If the return window on the veils would be enough time for you to pick a dress and you can afford to temporarily buy both, I'd say get both colors and see which you like better with the dress you pick. Different dresses look good with different colors, and I think it would be a good idea to see what the veil would look like with the dress before committing to one color.

Alternatively, unless the veil you like is SUPER unique, the shop you buy the dress from would probably have veils that are similar that you could try on.

Many veils are sheer enough that there is no noticeable difference between white and ivory, even against a white or ivory dress. Call ahead to the stores you plan to visit and ask if they will allow this.

I’m not sure if it’s super unique or not I went down a rabbit hole of different styles of veils and stumbled upon an Etsy shop haha so i think my issue here is the return or refund factor if i were to purchase two ya know? However, after reading your response i realized that i could just purchase the swatches of the color/material from that Etsy shop and take it with me when I shop for dresses. I know it won’t give me the complete look but at least i have the sense of which color 🥴😂
