White gold

Kayla, on November 20, 2019 at 7:52 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

White gold 1 I just picked my ring up from the jewelry store this past Friday so around 5 days ago. It was cleaned and polished with the rhodium plating. Monday I noticed my ring looked very “splotchy” right around the area with the heart designs. I attached a picture it’s kind of hard to tell. I have some telling me it’s fine and normal the more I take it up there the more it will show and some saying I need to take it back. Opinions?

First of all - I LOVE your setting. Second. TAKE IT BACK. You are right, stick to your gut. It has a yellow tint and is very splotchy/tarnished looking ! If I were you I would be very upset and disappointed with the jeweler. I mean things happen but when it’s something so special and sentimental it over tides that “let it go” feeling. Take it back as soon as you can so they you can get this resolved. Again, I am so sorry you have to deal with this ! Just a headache !!

It could be from the picture, but I agree with PP, that looks strange. I thought it was supposed to be a yellow gold ring before I read your description. :/ ask for it to be cleaned again and explain that it looks yellow, not white. Maybe also
Take it somewhere new if you can?

White gold 2 Here is a better picture of the “splotchy” I’m talking about.

Gosh I am so sorry you’re going through that! How stressful! I would take it back in. What jeweler did it come from? Is it a chain that you could take it to another location since the one you were going to isn’t helping?

Lovely setting, mine is a lot like it with the heart and white gold! I’ve had mine for about 10 months and it’s never gotten splotchy or yellow, even though it does get dull from oils and dirt if not cleaned. I would take it back and ask them what could be causing it and if it can be fixed by cleaning. I think it’ll be obvious to you if they clean it and it makes a difference. Better to know for sure than miss the chance to have it fixed at the start!

Simple answer... Just take it back to the jeweler.

I would take it back. But fwiw, I just clean mine at home with an ultrasonic cleaner and dawn soap.
