White flowers with ivory dress..is it okay??

NicoleAnn, on April 7, 2016 at 10:53 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I just received my silk flowers in the mail for the bridal party and I love them. The only issue I have is they are white roses with blue calla Lillys and my dress is ivory. I have been trying so hard to stay away from white colors because I've been told it makes ivory look yellow and dirty by my dress shop. Do you guys think it will look okay with my dress and the flowers? I don't want to to have to spend more money to replace something if I don't have too.

I don't think it will be an issue. Can you take a picture of your dress with the flowers? Then we could let you know how it looks

I think it's fine. Most ivory dresses look white to me (just lack a starkness).

It's fine, you're thinking too hard about this one.

I think for flowers it would be ok to mix white and ivory because there's enough natural variation in the colors of the flowers. If you were going to do silk or fabric flowers for your bouquet it might be more obvious, but with real flowers I think you're fine.

I think it's totally fine. These are the tiny details that drive us brides crazy, but no one else will ever remember that your flowers didn't match your dress.

    Try not to worry!

White roses and white calla lilies are closer to off-white/ivory.

But, artificial flowers can be stark white. You'll just need to put the silk bouquet next to your dress and decide.

My florist said that most white flowers aren't actually white white, not at stark as material would be. If in doubt, have the satin wrap in ivory

That will be beautiful - I think you'll be fine since they have a pop of color in them.

Agree with everyone, it will look beautiful. With the pops of blue, it won't be so noticeable. Maybe if your bouquet was 100% white with the ivory dress the difference would stand out more.. Don't overthink it!

I feel like it might be more of an issue with silk flowers just because they might be more true white. Natural white flowers aren't a stark white typically. My dress was ivory and my flowers were white though if people specified things like that in the floral industry you would probably have called my flowers ivory as well. I think you just need to compare the two and see what you think.

My dress is champagne colored and I was told the same thing about white flowers. But the florist brought out flowers and displayed them on a similarly colored piece of material and the white roses looked more creamy ivory than white, so I was very relieved. Then she made up a bouquet for me to take home with a few of every flower we chose in our wedding colors!

I actually read somewhere that if you're wearing white the flowers should be ivory and vice versa. That way the color of the flowers don't blend in with your dress. They're beautiful, I wouldn't worry!

There is no true white in nature, so if your fake flowers are true white I am afraid they might not look good with your dress :/

I just got them in the mail the other day, toke about a little over a month but they turned out really nice. And they were eady to order and responded to my questions fast. I orded a 16 piece package deal which took care of my whole bridal party even the mothers. I just wish I would have known the color of my dress when I ordered. But I think Im going to have to just deal with the color issue, my budget wont allow me to reorder.
