Which sparklers are best?

kirackle, on September 19, 2017 at 6:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

I had put no planning into an exit until last week because my FI and I plan to stay until the very end of the party we have been planning for so long. Also, my photographers were insistent that they leave after the cake cutting because drunk guests should not be photographed. They made it seem like the current trend is no official exit of the bride and groom.

However, my videographer insisted that the video needs an ending with a real or faked exit, so I got a horse and carriage to take us to our hotel at 11pm. I am now thinking that I also want sparklers for the guests. Is it worth $50-75 more for 36" sparklers over 20"? Anyone have experience with either or recommend a good place to buy them?

    We also got ones that burn for 2 minutes (20 inches) from superior celebrations haha. I found a coupon code on retailmenot.com when I purchased.

    I purchased the 36" sparklers from a firework center (Keystone Fireworks) for my FSIL's wedding. She had about 180 people in the exit line so I decided to go big or go home because I thought it would take forever to get them lit since everyone was going to be drunk.

    It worked out well.

    I'm confused by a few statements in your post, but first, try weddingsparklersdirect.com, that's where I got my wedding sparklers from. Just make sure to buy legitimate sparklers and not fourth of July sparklers (those are not the right ones for photos, nor safe enough). I got the #20 ones and they lasted plenty long enough!

    I agree that it's probably appropriate for the photographers to leave a little after the cake cutting (and all the other highlights are done). I'd stay for maybe an hour of the reception to get a bit of dancing, but you don't need the entire thing - drunk dancing starts to look the same after a while.

    You CAN do a "fake" / early exit. We did it at my wedding around 9:30, when the reception went until 11ish. My photographer and videographer were both there until only 9:30 and they got all the shots AND the videographer was able to put together a beautiful video that included shots of the reception (dancing) as well as the sparkler "exit". A skilled videographer would be able to edit the filming to put it together smoothly and with an appropriate flow to it.

    ETA: I read your post wrong. I read it as the videographer said they need a real exit, not faked. Sorry! But anyway, a videographer/photographer can actually end the photos/film without an elaborate exit. It would just fade out with dancing or a the couple kissing or something else. If you want to do a grand exit, great, but don't let them make you feel obligated to do so.

    I went for the 36" ones to make sure it looks great. I also found a cheaper website after hunting around that also had free shipping. Now I just need to finish all of my many, many DIY projects. A cricut is cool, but loading those mats takes so much more time than you think.

    We bought 250 of the 36" golden wedding sparklers from The Dream Wedding Store for $225. We tested them out in the backyard a couple nights ago and they burn for 4 minutes and look great! I would choose 36" over 20"

    @Alexandra

    I'm glad I opted for the 36" ones now. Glad to know that they are worth it.

    and @Dreamer if you mean staged aka "faux" exit I agree. My horse and carriage will be taking my new husband and myself to our hotel. That is a real exit.
