Which Ring do you like better?

Hey Hey yall. So I never knew choosing a ring would be this difficult for me. I didn't even want one, FH is pretty much forcing me to get one so here I am. I've already chosen my band which is the main thing I was focused on because that's what I'm going to wear daily. I told him I will wear...

Hey Hey yall. So I never knew choosing a ring would be this difficult for me. I didn't even want one, FH is pretty much forcing me to get one so here I am. I've already chosen my band which is the main thing I was focused on because that's what I'm going to wear daily. I told him I will wear engagement ring on occasion and upon his request but for the most part, it will stay in its box. I finally have a definite cut I want. After 2 weeks of looking at rings I narrowed it down to Oval or Marquise and chose the latter.

And I KNOW it's ultimately my decision and whatever I like and blah blah but I want YOUR opinion, that's what this discussion is for. I just want to hear other people's thoughts and see if anything I read will make me go "hmm, I didn't think about that" and thus make my decision easier. I am like the most indecisive person ever! lol quick disclaimer- these are random photos, I was trying to find pics on a real hand, so don't judge by clarity on anything like that, just by style/design. If you don't like either ring, please kindly don't bother leaving a comment. That's not what I'm looking for. However, if you like one but not the other, please feel free to state your likes and dislikes. Ok so which one do you like better...

A

I like A but that’s because I love how halos look. If you go with B you could potentially get an enhancer later down the road if you wanted to add a little more to your ring.

To me, it depends really what the band looks like since you mentioned you already picked that out. If the band is an eternity or half eternity pave diamond, then I’d pick without the halo. However if your band is it more simple and shows more metal then I would pick the halo.

I can't imagine spending a bunch of money on a ring for it to sit in a jewelry box never to be worn.

I too tend to prefer a really simple jewelry. In that case, I feel like number two without the halo would be something you would wear more often.

If you find yourself missing the extra sparkle from the halo you can always add a ring jacket later. Gives you more options to dress up or down too.

I typically prefer no halo, but between the two options, I really love the halo marquise!

I’m usually not big on a halo either, but I prefer the first ring.
Do you have a picture of the band you picked? When you go try the rings on, I’d definitely bring the band (if you have it already) so you can see the pair together, even if you don’t plan on wearing it that way very often. You definitely won’t wear it together if you don’t like the way they look combined, and it seems a huge waste to buy a ring that you won’t ever wear.

My band is a double row half eternity pave diamond. I honestly picked the band first though because I didn't want an engagement ring, so I purposely picked a band that blings and looks great all on it's own. Dangit, you're going to make me overthink this lol I really don't plan on wearing them together too often, but you think on the occasions I do, the band and ring A will look crazy together? That's def something to think about. I will admit, A was my first choice but then once I saw B I started questioning if A was doing too much!

You could just skip the engagement ring! Nobody says you have to follow the tradition if it’s not something that you’ll wear often.

Based on what you said, I still think you’d be more likely to wear the engagement ring together with your band more often if it was non-halo.

I have a picture, don't have it yet. I'm sure they have a similar band in the store that I could try on with it. This definitely makes sense! See, he's missing me up with this whole engagement ring thing! I'm trying to be a team player but this is being a hassle now! lol You're right, if I don't like the way it looks I'm def not going to wear them together. Ugh.

This is what it looks like. The halo might be too much with this. But the picture of it on the hand is more what it looks like in person. I think on the website they just blow it up all big

That’s really pretty! I think you’re right, the halo might be too much if you’re not into a lot of bling. I hope you find something you love, picking an engagement ring should not be stressful!

Based on your band, I’d go with the first one. I think the diamond in the second one will get lost with all of the sparkle from the band. With the first one, the halo frames the diamond and draws attention back to it with some added sparkle.

That said, I would also take the diamonds themselves into consideration. Shape is just one part of it.

I prefer the first one because I love more bling. That being said, like PPs have said you should bring your band with you to try on the rings together. A huge problem with my ER was that it sat low, so the straight band I wanted to wear wouldn’t fit - there would be a gap which I wasn’t loving. I could have changed my ER because my husband gave me the choice to redesign it, but I didn’t want that! So I decided to get a custom band to wrap around my ER. Now in quarantine I’m never wearing my ER or my custom band because we don’t leave the house. Within the next month I plan on getting a simple band just to wear at home.

Update: ok so I went into the jewelry stores like most of you suggested. Every store had the halo (A) but none of the stores exactly had B. Most of them had Ring B w/o the side stones. Macy's had it with the side stones but only in yellow gold, which I don't want so I still didn't really get to see the effect of both like I wanted but Ring A and the band looked absolutely dazzling together! I would want the side stones in the ring to match the size of the stones in the band for uniformity but anyway ladies, I am a whole hot mess!! While in Zales, I discovered the Disney Enchanted collection and fell in love with the Aurora ring which is a morganite stone. (Now I actually DO want that ring at some point lol but it is way too big to be an engagement ring, and I wouldn't want to wear a band with that, and would prob want that on my middle finger) HOWEVER I now want a morganite center stone ring instead of a diamond! Never heard of this stone before that day but now I love it and I'm on a mission. I found a lot of rings I like on Etsy. Has anybody ever purchased jewelry from Etsy? Are they legit? It seems like several different jewelry stores. They give options with the rings such as simulated diamonds, moissanite, and natural diamonds. Since it's just the side stones that are diamonds, the cost for natural diamonds is only like $180 more than moissanite, but does that sound right? I dunno, we'll prob just stick with the jeweler we're getting the band from but Etsy has some good prices. At this point, yall just pray I get my life together cuz I am really all over the place with this now! haha I truly appreciate everyone's help.
