Which lace for suit overlay?

I'm having a suit made in this style

Which lace for suit overlay? 1

Since it's being made, I have the option to choose the lace. These are the two I'm considering. I'm leaning more towards the second, but the first has stayed in the running since I started looking. Wdyt? Which lace for suit overlay? 2

I really like both, but think the second one will look best.

    1. I think this idea is amazing. It’ll can’t wait to see the pictures
    2. I vote for #2. It has a more distinctive look and I think it’ll photograph better.

I like the second lace better, but it has a much more distinctive pattern and a larger "repeat" (how big each of the clusters of the motif are), so it will likely require a lot more fabric and much more effort (which means time & money) to ensure the patterns line up appropriately and all the seams "match." If you haven't yet, I would definitely consult with your tailor/seamstress to get their input before you make your final choice. For comparison, the model suit has a pretty basic pattern, in terms of the lace having clear, scalloped rows and a simple "repeat" of the design that looks like two distinct fans. That pattern is relatively easy to line-up, so the jacket fronts match, the scalloped rows across the trousers line up, etc. (However, personally, it would bug me the way they don't line up at the side seam -- that's poor tailoring in my book.) Your first lace option, is a pretty consistent pattern and will be a lot easier to line up. The second is going to be a lot more complicated because the pattern has so many distinct elements, and the motifs face both left and right. If not done well, you risk the pattern looking unbalanced and potentially like kind of a hodgepodge. Beautiful fabric though! Good luck! Smiley heart
