Which is more cost effective in March - Garden roses or peonies?

FutureStephD, on August 21, 2018 at 10:23 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
Does anyone know which is more cost effective at the end of March - Garden Roses or Peonies?
I know I can ask a florist, but I’m just trying to learn what to expect before I consider changing our wedding design from peonies to Garden roses... want to be sure it’s worth it!...
Thanks!!

I believe garden roses will always be more cost effective than peonies, that's quite a sought after expensive flower...but it should be in season then, or so I believe, so definitely worth looking into to see if fits much more expensive or not.

Thank you! Florists seem to be mixed if peonies are in season or not - but they’ve all said they can get them from overseas (which sounds like $ to me).
I’m also thinking I could do peonies/ Garden roses for bouquets and then hydrangeas for centerpieces to bring down costs...

Fun!! I thought I was so smart and got discounts from vendors for doing “off peak” and now I’m realizing flowers are a litttttle more expensive then. Oh well!

Yes. If you want a flower at any time of year it can be found somewhere for you!

Peonies are usually a lot more expensive than roses. They are only in season a very short time at the end of May/June. But florists can get them from other countries. My florist got peonies for my wedding in December but they came from another country.

Garden roses are usually always cheaper than peonies. I wanted peonies for my centerpieces until I realized how expensive they are. Definitely going the garden rose and hydrangea route!

We're doing roses for our wedding in March of 2020 and it was the most cost effective.

If you still want peonies, you could always order them in bulk and then make your own bouquets to save some money!

Okay, not sure if anyone cares, but, according to the florist I've decided to go with, peonies and garden roses are actually about the same cost. BUT there are roses bred to look like peonies or garden roses that are about half the price. The florist said the only people that would know the difference are florists, and well, first I don't care and second, I don't know any florists or I wouldn't be using her. Haha. Thanks for the help everyone!
