Which dress style?

Michelle, on November 9, 2019 at 9:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27
I went to my first appointment at David’s Bridal yesterday and surprisingly found that dresses I thought I wanted were not flattering on me. I wanted sleeve, lace, mermaid, and said no to strapless and spaghetti straps. Well turns out I hate sleeves, strapless and spaghetti looks best on me, but I still love lace!

I ended up really liking how the left photo felt on me and it would’ve been perfect but everyone including me felt the bottom of the dress was too bare. My mom didn’t like it. The right dress my mom picked out and surprisingly was flattering on me.

So I haven’t said yes yet, but at least I know what what flatters me. I keep searching online for the left side dress to something similar (see model photo). I do like my moms pick but I can’t help but going back to the style to the left dress. They both have longer trains but you can’t see in the right photo.

They are both really pretty but I think the one on the left is prettier. I don’t think the bottom is bare at all. With the top having so much detail I don’t think you want the bottom competing.

I absolutely love the dress on the left! Maybe a belt of some sort would help with it feeling too bare? Or could they do a colored underlay (champagne, blush, etc.)?

I think maybe I’d it was hemmed shorter it could show the detail of the lace. See how the model’s shows? Someone on here mentioned it might be more expensive though because it would be difficult.

Here’s another where it seems fine. I think when I wore it, it just looked blank lol

So you'd have to see if they can order it in a custom length. So for my dress, I'm getting it without a train, but the bottom has beautiful scalloped edges, and if they didn't special order it, they'd just chop off the bottom and hem it straight, losing the detail. I think that's why people are saying it would be more expensive. Or if it's the right kind o lace, they can try moving the bottom to where it's hemmed. OR maybe if they hem the lining just a bit shorter than the lace you'll be able to see the details? Depending on your budget

I loooove the dress on the left! i don’t think it’s bare in the slightest and if you do feel that way you can always add a little bling with a belt!

Here’s another person in the pic. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I called and they said it’s like $200 to hem the lace up higher. I think that the blank space would be smaller since I’m only 5’2! I had 3 inch heels and it was still very long.

Here is another photo similar. I’m going an hour just to try this on for the price it’s at...it’s very similar but more detail.

I will have to do a second visit to this dress to see where it could be hemmed and how it would look.

The one on the left is gorgeous on you! If you’re too uncomfortable you can have lining put in the front (call the shop it might come with a lined option).

The dress on the left is actually my wedding dress that I chose and I’m so happy with I actually don’t like all the extra bling and fluff so it was perfect for me but it looks good on you

You look beautiful in both but the one on the left is so gorgeous! I love the lace! Ultimately it's decision. Wear what you feel the most beautiful in and what you envision yourself looking like on your wedding day.

I think what’s getting to me that keeps echoing in my head is my sisters and cousin (bridal party) and mom think it’s really plain at the bottom. Honestly it’s hard when you have your family’s opinions. I am trying not to envision myself in a dress I want at my wedding and what my fiancé would like. I think he would like this .

They’re both beautiful but I LOVE the one of the left and I think it’s gorgeous on you. It also seems a bit more unique to me! However you really can’t go wrong here.

Yes, I do like that it's unique than most dresses I've seen! The one of the model at the bottom I posted right before my initial post is pretty but it's not AS unique. Thank you for the input everyone. I'm sure I'll be questioning further when I try more dresses similar to it...hopefully NOT and I find the one I love!
