Which anniversary do you celebrate?

GINA, on May 12, 2020 at 7:10 PM Posted in Married Life 0 9
Hey y’all!
I’m getting married in LA on August 22, 2020. There is speculation going on that our stay at home order will be extended through July or August.
This officially put my nerve on edge and I’m closer to postponing my wedding. As I begin to mourn my wedding date little things come us such as which wedding date do you celebrate as your anniversary?
We are obviously still gonna get married and have a celebration later. But which anniversary do you celebrate?Smiley sad Sad. So so sad.

What? Through July??? 🤯 No way!!! I can’t stand staying home this long. I am slowly going nuts!

23 years ago we eloped with close family and close friends. We did the tiny church blessing months later, then signed the legal papers 2 months later. We kind of celebrated the church blessing, but we will renew our vow and have a private destination wedding, so I want to use this date to celebrate in the future.
I think it’s up to you which one to celebrate. Maybe choose the one you felt happiest?

Why not have two anniversaries? Extra celebrations, then!

My brother and his wife did a small civil ceremony and then the big wedding 10 months later. They celebrate the big wedding date as their official anniversary. Just their preference. Maybe you'll know which date feels more right to you after they both happen.

If it works out that we can get legally married this June and then have a religous ceremony and the reception in December (as we are currently planning), then we will celebrate our anniversary in June. But I like the idea of celebrating both!

I would do the date that you originally wanted. I am doing a back up/push my wedding back plan. If it’s still bad in October then my fiancé and I are going to go get married at the courthouse on our wedding date then have our big wedding with our family some other time.

I would personally celebrate the date that has the most personal significance. We chose our wedding date because it is the anniversary date of when we first met. Regardless of what happens, we will still marry on that date and celebrate that date for future anniversaries.
