Where to stay the night before the wedding!

Carissa, on September 10, 2020 at 7:47 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hi! My wedding is October 30! I’m trying to figure out where to stay with the bridesmaids and groomsmen! Our wedding starts at 4, but all the hotels late check out is 12, and i really don’t feel like paying for 2 nights! What would you recommend?

I asked our coordinator (luckily our reception is at a venue that is connected to a hotel) and she stated we could reserve a room for just the day if we wanted. I’m not sure about the rates, etc. I would ask the hotel if they have an earlier check-in option to reserve a room any earlier.

Have you checked out Airbnb's in the area?

Just spring for the 2 nights. You only get married once (hopefully) and just relax and enjoy it.

Is there some place at the venue you could get ready? Otherwise, I think booking two nights is going to be your best option.

Either find a place that is less expensive for 2-night or spring for 2-nights. Have you spoken with the hotel manager to ask if they will make an exception on the late check-out and extend it another 2-3 hours. I'm sure they would.

When I travel, I always take the late check-out and usually get it till 4 without a charge.

Honestly that might be a GREAT check out time Smiley smile For me I am planning on a 4 o'clock wedding. I will actually get ready at the venue with all of my bridesmaids, but we plan on being done at 12. We will do our first look photos, our bridal party photos, our family photos, and just us photos between 12:30 and 3:00. Guests start showing up 3:30. This means the family, groomsman, and groom have 30 minuets to use the restroom and so forth before they have to welcome people and start ushering them in to the ceremony. My photographer said for each group photo will usually take 2-5 minuets to take. With our large families we are planning to need at least 2.5 hours for photos. Depending on the photos you want, you might actually want to leave the hotel at 12 Smiley smile

Are actually planning to have your whole wedding party stay together overnight, or just looking for a space to get ready? If they are staying, they will need somewhere to stay the night of your wedding anyway, and making them pack up all their stuff before your wedding then try to settle in somewhere else that night doesn't make much sense. Look for big houses on Air Bnb/VRBO and see if they are willing to split some of the cost with you. My FH is renting a condo that the groomsmen can hang out in during the day and then 2 of them will actually be staying there. If that doesn't work, you should definitely book the hotel room(s) for both nights.

If it's just a place to get ready, I agree that you should first see if your venue has a space you can use, at least from 12-4, then you can just book the one night.

Definitely go talk to the hotel. I worked the front desk of a chain hotel and we were across from a hospital. We would get traveling nurses in all the time who just needed a bed to sleep in for a few hours during the day. They would check in early morning and would be gone in the afternoon. We gave them a pretty good rate.
