Where to put bouquets

Megan Thompson, on February 28, 2021 at 1:08 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13
We are having rather large arm bouquets made with delphinium and lavendar sweet peas. I know usually the bridesmaids and bride just put their boqs in a vase at the reception but with these being so large and the flowers going down the stem so far I'm wondering if anyone has any creative ideas on where to put them/what to do with them? I think theyll be too tall to sit on the head table. Im using the flowrrs in the 1st pic and arranging them similar to the second one. For reference theyll be about 18-20" long. A heavy cut or pressed glass vase that won't tip due to the height of the flowers is best.

So still put them in a vase but just make sure its heavy? Sounds good. Since they're too big for the head table should we put them in places like the cake table, guest book table ect?

Yes. Or ask for a small occasional table for them all against a wall close to the head table.

Totally get that! In that case, I'd contact the company you'll be purchasing them from for advice on what size vases to get

I grow flowers, rather than engage in floral artistry. But something I find irritating at really fancy weddings, when they display long or armheld bouquets, is that while I love them in a cut or pressed glass you cannot see through, with a wide mouth or a china vase , solid or with a pattern,
florists or venue people follow the current fad. They use see through vases. Lots of stems in your shape bouquet, so that on display the stems overpower the flowers.
    I prefer:Where to put bouquets 3

They do side tables or shelves in clear cylinders, appearing to be all stems.Where to put bouquets 5

Just because the thin glass cylinders are in fashion does not mean they suit every arrangement. I prefer opaque, glass or pottery, and shaped large at the bottom, then inward, then wide mouth to spread those tall flowers.Great shape ( if not clear):Where to put bouquets 7
That, and they need to wet the bottom inch at most, so it is absorbed. Not 5 inches water, so when you pick it up again ribbons are soaked and they feel like cold cooked asparagus.
