Heidi, on October 11, 2012 at 1:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello,

My friend recently got engaged and I am just curious if ANYONE knows of any venues in the New England/Boston or otherwise Florida Area which would host a Wedding Reception Celebration until 5am?? This is the fiery Latina brides request...loves to dance! Smiley smile

Well, I'd love to be of help seeing how I've looked at venues in Florida, Boston, Ohio and Ga but-- there are none that let you go to 5am. Why? Because usually people leave after alcohol is done being sold and in all those states alcohol is not to be sold after 1-2 am. That and ALL states have noise laws. HOWEVER there is nothing stopping you from paying for extra hours till 2am and then having a small after party in a hotel room or someone's house or a bom fire on farm land.

Let me know if you need anymore help with venues in that area.

(In Florida you are allowed to rent homes to have weddings on and you can have a "after party" in one of the homes )

I can't tell you anything about the area, but I can tell you I've never seen a venue that will stay open until 5am. Basically, at the end of the night, their staff has to be around to clean up, put tables away, and often prepare for the next reception.

I think your best options for this may be a hotel rather than a traditional reception venue.

If she just loves to dance, why not start the ceremony earlier and have the recpetion from 7-12? That's 5 hours of dancing... all the guests will be exhausted by then! Not to mention all the bride's prewedding activities, and post wedding activities... She'll be exhausted!

It's difficult but it's possible. Our wedding went until 4am in Chicago. But seriously, it was incredibly difficult to find a venue. And expensive. And our liquor service had to end at 2.

I would look at renting out nightclubs or warehouse/loft spaces, and look for spaces in commercial areas where they don't have residential zoning or noise ordinances. Just to give you an idea we got married here:

Also just realize that most states hold private event caterers to a different standard for liquor licensing than, say, a bar. We figured that bars served booze until 4am in Chicago so our caterer could too. False. Smiley smile

Also - seriously just have her consider that it sounds fun to party til 5am, but she's probably going to be exhausted. I caved on H's request to have our reception go so late and I about fell asleep standing up at midnight. It was fun, don't get me wrong, but I would have been just as happy with a brunch. The other thing to remember is that it's a cultural thing, and if you're approaching "American" brides here or venues or business owners, they might not get it and they might assume you want to have a crazy frat party. H's family is Polish and we were lucky to find a Polish DOC who helped us explain to vendors that we were not, in fact, planning a kegger. Smiley smile

FWIW, it was the old Polish people who stayed the longest. That and a few of our friends who really, really love us or really, really love dancing. Smiley smile Our American friends who usually party all night long had mostly left by 2/2:30. So also have her consider how many of her guests will actually stay, and if it's worth the planning, the overtime, and the limited selection of vendors she'll find for the number of people who will benefit.

You women are amazingly helpful!! Thank you -- The bride threw out the 5am time, but pretty much I think she's looking for any place that will not kick you out at midnight/1am....I really like the suggestion of renting space in a club or late night venue for an "after-party" SO smart!! Had no idea either about the liquor licensing for caterers being different then for bars, interesting.....Thank you ladies again Smiley smile
