I am not interested in paying so much to sit on the beach and see the inside of resort and would prefer to go somewhere outside of the Caribbean. Maybe south of France, or on the Italian coastline somewhere, but not limited to those two, they're just examples. Suggestions?

Cinque Terre, Italy! Five cities, it's beautiful. You can relax or explore the cities.

Ah we booked Curacao yesterday before I saw this! Oh well we will make the best of it. We were interested in it because it was somewhere you could experience both culture and relaxation. Thanks everyone!

Kim - Congrats on your engagement!

Costa Rica and Riviera Maya, Mexico would be my top suggestions if you don`t wish to travel overseas and spend a fortune.

There are several great all-inclusive resorts to choose from plus plenty off-site excursions and sightseeing are available to add-on!

If you wish to discuss more options and would like me to find you a great place for your honeymoon feel free to contact me - I am certified honeymoon and destination wedding specialist and will be glad to assist with your dream vacation.

My husband and I had the same discussion. My MOH was the one who swayed me into a 'moon that was all about relaxation and I'm sooo happy she did.

You will want to REST after the wedding. Don't do a highly scheduled vacay or you'll regret it. We went to Hawaii and had plans to visit this, that, blah blah blah and honestly? We hung out at the pool and the beach and our room. It's a honeymoon. You'll want privacy and romance. Go for the laid back vacation. You won't regret it.

That sounds exactly like us. FH wanted to relax, I wanted to experience culture and do things. We went on a trip to Europe...that was the end of FH wanting to lay on the beach (thankfully). We are going to go along the Mediterranean (southern Spain, southern France and Italy). I've never been along the Mediterranean, but I know that the beaches and such are nice from what I see on HGTV, that way FH can relax while you still experience culture.

I studied abroad in Costa Rica, i am definitely supporting that option. focus your time on adventure in Montevideo and the cloud forest, and go to Arenal and volcano tours. The hot springs are a bit expensive but a must do, there are a ton of hidden little bars. Then head to Santa teresa and Montezuma, its very relaxing and adorable little towns. Manuel Antonio is also a little nice area to visit, just be aware if your driving the roads are pretty bad in terms of CHitty chitty bang bang pot holes.
