Where to get ready with no bridal suite?

Maria, on January 16, 2023 at 10:03 AM Posted in Planning 0 9

So I'll try to make this short. The venue I love doesn't have the best space for my girls and I to get ready in. It's about the size of a small bedroom and has a desk with a mirror and a couple lounge chairs. Lighting is not good either. I was really hoping to have a place for us all to get ready. Plus I want to do a first look with them and there's not a separate room for that. I'm seeing another venue that has the most GORGEOUS bridal suite (multiple rooms, salon chairs/mirrors, full kitchen) only issue with that venue is that it does not have the ability for the ceremony to have double doors to open up for my grand entrance. (double doors for ceremony are my #1 must.)

The one really good thing about the "bridal suite" I'm not a big fan of is that there is a door that you can see out into the reception area but no one can see in so you can watch the ceremony start. It also is a great spot for my FH and I to run up to after the ceremony to have 15 mins alone together with some appetizers before we get into the craziness of the night because it's important to me that we have a few mins alone together. I will have 6 bridesmaids plus my mom getting ready with me and Idk what we should do. A friend mentioned an airbnb but would we just have to stay in the car while we wait for everyone to get into the ceremony space for me to come out? HELP! Smiley sad

My ceremony was at a church and my reception venue didn’t have enough getting ready rooms for both guys and ladies, so we got ready at a hotel that had rooms they rent out for this kind of thing. I’d recommend talking to some hotels near your venue.

I think your only option if you want more space is to get ready at a hotel or at an airbnb. Perhaps then you and your bridal party can get to your venue 45-60 min before ceremony start (guests usually arrive within 30 min) and have light snacks.

Sorry...meant to add you can have light snacks in bridal suite since you'll all be ready to fo by then and during that time photographer can then take photos of groom and his party.

My venue doesn't have a suite either. I'll be getting ready in my hotel.

Maybe you can get ready with your bms and mom at a hotel. Where are you sleeping the night before and then the night of the wedding?

You can also get all ready EXCEPT put your dress on at the venue and then your bridesmaids can do a first look with you coming down the stairs or something.

Are you considering doing a first look with your FH? If so, all of the bridesmaids/getting ready photos would most likely be completely a few hours before the ceremony.

    Good luck!!

I forgot to add we have to pay an extra $400 to use the bridal suite so I wouldn't want to use it just for an hour at that price. I actually spoke to someone today that I know who got married there and she said her bridal party was 11 bridesmaids and another 5 women in the room with no issue so I'm starting to think it might be ok (:

We were looking at one place that had a small building that could be used to get ready in. But it had to be rented for 4 hours minimum on the weekends, so that made the price a bit steep.

You can make a small space work! And you can bring in extra lighting - maybe a few ring lights?

Our church had a less-than-ideal bridal suite too, and they only let us have access for about an hour prior to the ceremony. I booked a hotel suite where everyone got their hair and makeup done, and the bridesmaids, moms, and my grandma all got dressed there. We had our limo pick us all up and take us to the church where we met the photography/ videography team (didn't bother with getting ready pictures). They got all the detail shots with my dress, jewelry, perfume, etc., then I got dressed and did a reveal where everyone came into the bridal suite.
