Where to get picture frame arbor

kmr374, on August 15, 2017 at 9:22 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

I saw a really pretty giant or life sized picture frame "arbor" and I have to have it! Another bride here shared a picture of one she found. I am having so much trouble finding anything other than custom. A rental would be fine too and I only found one in the U.K.! I'm in the Hudson Valley of NY

Can you share your inspiration picture? I'm not exactly sure what a "picture frame" arbor is.

    Better pics here

It looks pretty easy to build. I would ask a local builder. You can paint it yourself to save money. You might even be able to sell it to a local rental place after your wedding.

Thanks for the link to more pics! I thought about building it but was hoping to find a ready to go frame even if it was a little smaller or different. A rental would be even better if they set up.

That looks pretty custom, and specific. I would definitely look into pricing how much it is to be made, as its so specific a lot of rental places may not carry that style.

That is my exact inspiration!!!! Guess what, I made it. I picked up wood and made it myself. Painted it one of the wedding colors as I'm trying to avoid white. (Not sure why all my pictures post sideways)

As you can see in the pintrest picture, the framing is metal and the base is concrete, and my wedding is in my backyard... so nothing so permanent for me. I picked wood with no heavy base. Instead of a platform bottom, I drilled holes for metal steaks. I'm going to buy fabric to drape like a window instead of flowers.

That's amazing!!!! Thanks for sharing! That's super helpful! I didn't know how I could make it stand, which was my main hesitation to building it.

I'd call around wedding decor places and specialists, our venue has a list of preferred decorators, yours might as well!

Here's some more pictures. I can't remember the width off the top of my head, it's either 8 or 10 inches, 12 was way too much. The boards are 1 inch thick and 8ft tall. The bottom is a really thick board is a 2x8 or 2x6 that matched that happened to have laying around. Without the bottom, I had maybe $40 in wood invested. I compared the cost with pillars or even renting and this was much cheaper!

I used a circular saw to cut the angles, sanded the imperfections a bit, and used glue to fill in the gaps with the wood since I'm not a wood worker at all! Make sure to use wood screws, my FH set up the nail gun (I knew it wouldn't work), and it didn't.

I'm going to test the metal steaks idea, but if that doesn't work, I have some scrap wood I will just screw on perpendicular to make legs and just cover them with rose petals. Between the grass, fabric, and rose petals, it shouldn't be visible.

If you were closer, I would just give you mine when I'm done.
