Where to find sheer beaded tunic/dress?

Matty, on May 27, 2019 at 11:47 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14
I want something different than a white dress or a black suit (we’re a queer couple, my fiancé will most likely be wearing a white dress). I love this beaded tunic set from Zuhair Murad but am not looking to spend $10k. I’ve tried googling everything I can think of and haven’t had any luck finding something like it. Any suggestions on where I should look/what keywords I should search for? Or suggestions on places to have a custom outfit made? I’m open to different colors (black, dark blue, ivory, white, blush, maybe others).

WOW, this is so beautiful Matty!! It’s so different!

I’m so sorry that I couldn’t find anything very similar to this in my search.

Have you thought about wearing a jumpsuit for your wedding? There are some beautiful bridal ones if you would like to go for something white, or if you would prefer to go with color, they will be a bit more easily accessible. I looked on Pinterest to find some that you might be interested in but I’m not sure exactly what style you want to go for. Here is what I found!

I love that first one! Thanks for including the designer. I will have to look them up and maybe they’ll have some beadwork pieces. I’m guessing I will probably end up compromising and getting embroidery.

If you can’t find anything similar & affordable, I would think about maybe buying a similar looking gown & having a seamstress remove the bottom under layers to leave it see-through & shorten the gown, if needed.
This dress is a good example, it’s affordable, it has see-through top layer, it looks very similar to your tunic & it can be easily shortened:

I love that look! Maybe you could have something custom made? Won't be cheap but definitely less than 10k.

That was something I was thinking about! I’ll have to find a seamstress and ask about the feasibility. It makes sense in my head but my mother is skeptical haha

Ideally I’d go for black. That way we wouldn’t have to worry about it clashing with my partner’s dress, which will likely be ivory. Knowing us, I’ll have mine picked out first so I don’t want to pigeonhole her color choice at all!

I’d order the dress (you can always return it) & see in person. Knowing these types of dresses, they usually have under layers that could easily be removed, for sure for the skirt. For the top, you’d have to check in person, because sometimes under layer is stitched with the top layer. But I’d probably leave top as is, you might not want a sheer top anyway lol.

We’re thinking about it but not really sure how to go about it or how expensive that beadwork can be - if you have any suggestions or knowledge of having things custom made, I’d love to hear it! I’m located in Denver but am from Connecicut, so I will at least have access to shops in NYC

I did a quick Google search and although none of these are like your photo example, one of the listings may lead to something you like. Good luck, the outfit idea is beautiful so I hope you are able to find something.
