Where to find affordable bridesmaid dresses?

Rebecca, on April 24, 2022 at 1:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hi y'all!

My wedding's in November and time wise I don't know if I'm late in trying to find my bridesmaid dresses, but I've basically just started my search. I really want to be mindful of my bridesmaid budgets (they're basically all having it a bit rough money wise) but I also would love a burgundy dress, which is apparently very rare because each company has a different "burgundy."

Any suggestions as to where I can look for bridesmaid dresses? I've already ordered swatches from Azazie but they weren't the right color and I have swatches coming in from Birdy Grey and JJ's House.

Thank you so much in advance!

I had the same issue with Azazie not having the color I wanted. It's really hard to decide when looking online, so I went to one of the bridal shops near me, and they had affordable options for bridesmaids dresses.

Azazie is highly recommended as being a budget option. David’s has some lower prices. Revelry is budget with high quality. If you are in or near a major city that has a wholesale fashion district, you can find inexpensive quality dresses off the rack.

Be aware that JJ’s House is based out of China. Many past posts have said you get what you pay for and not everyone was happy with what they received. Also seamstresses will not touch them for alterations.

You don’t mention what the budget range you want to stick around is, so I’m not sure if my suggestions will help.

My bridesmaids ended up ordering from a local bridal store because the dresses were better quality but same price as David’s Bridal, which surprised me. I thought David’s was a budget option but their dresses are still around $150, so I’m not sure if that works for you. I’d suggest trying local bridal stores first. Otherwise, the online sites already suggested.

Azazie didn't have the exact color I wanted so we went with Dessy. Depending on the styles the girls selected, they paid between $125-$150 for their dresses. The quality was excellent!

Did you order multiple swatches from Azazie? I ran into that same issue with them where the color I thought I wanted ended up being off, but a different one was what I wanted. Other than that, I also looked at Kennedy Blue and ordered swatches from them. I was also going to check out Birdy Grey, but my bridesmaids all loved an option from Kennedy, so that was what we did. If your bridesmaids are local you could all try to swing by a local bridal shop and see if they have anything you like.

I think you still have enough time, especially if you are ordering online because they will need to try on the dresses and have alterations if necessary. I would suggest measuring your brides, narrowing down the selection of styles. As far as price goes, online will probably be cheaper, although David’s Bridal does have sales going on and the dresses are not that expensive. They also do alterations a la cart which is great if they only need a hem.

I know it sounds crazy but look at Shein a bit and see if you like anything there. I have had some amazing luck with them for formal wear. I’d start by ordering 1 dress in the color to see if it’s acceptable and make sure all sizes are available before doing so.
