Where to draw the line?

Jessica, on June 7, 2019 at 8:48 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

So we want to do a memorial table with pictures of passed loved ones. FH wants to include his grandmother and I want to include my grandfather. We also would like to include two close friends who passed.

We were thinking of including the best mans mom, she passed away in November and FH was close with her, he was also close to MOHs grandma, she passed away in November as well. Should we include them in this or no? I feel like we should because I know they would be there if they were here but then I also feel like if we start including our wedding parties families we would also have to include bridesmaid mom (we have never met her though) and groomsmen cousin (who FH knew). But the list could go on and on if we start doing this. We also don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by not including them.

Where did you draw the line on this?

I would only include those who would be at the wedding if they were still here.

I would choose the people you and your FH felt closest to

I would say to include the people that would have been there on your special day with you.

I nixed the memorial table idea because my grandmother would have tried to turn in into a shrine to my deceased grandfather who died before I was born.
If I were going to have one, I'd have limited it to one picture per person and family only.
