Where to buy buttons?

Alex , on August 28, 2019 at 9:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
I'd like to add buttons to the back of my dress, but am having a hard time finding them in store. I'm nervous to buy from Etsy since I won't be able to see the actual color before it arrives and I'm a bit pressed for time. I've tried Michaels and Walmart. Any advice on stores that might sell ivory cloth buttons? TIA!

Did you buy a dress at a bridal shop, and was it in the past few weeks? You can ask if the designer can add buttons! I worked at a bridal shop on weekends and a bride asked for this—it only cost $100 (including the buttons).

I found a 4 pack of white buttons for $0.88 at my Walmart. Try a fabric store- JoAnns maybe.

JoAnn Fabric's has a good selection of buttons, in my area anyway.

My seamstress actually had a choice of buttons on hand! Maybe yours will too?

If there is any fabric that is going to be trimmed from the dress (e.g., if it's too long and they'll be removing fabric when they shorten it), you can buy a "covered button kit" at any fabric store (like JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, etc.). Then your buttons will be exact same fabric as your dress. They are very easy to make. (https://www.joann.com/cover-button-kits-size-20-1-2in-7-pkg/1707017.html)
