Where is it cheapest to buy bulk alcohol?

I live in the Metro Detroit area of Michigan and we will be having a small wedding (around 50 guests). We will be providing our own open bar with only wine and beer. In Michigan there is a State Regulated Price so it can not be cheaper than what the state government says. Would it be cheapest to buy from Costco or Sams Club or to bring in alcohol from Canada (Windsor area)? I believe I heard Canada doesn't have the price floor that Michigan does

I believe there are laws limiting how much alcohol you can bring to the US from Canada, so that is definitely something to research before going that route.

Not only are there limits on how much you can bring back at a time, there can also be fees and taxes on things you’re bringing across the border.

I found that purchasing through our local liquor store is cheapest. Not only do they offer a bulk discount, but they offer to buy back anything unopened.
Of course, this may not be true in your state, but it is something to consider.

We live in Ohio and Costco can't sell liquor, so we will be buying it in Indiana, and it is a pretty good deal compared to other places I've seen.
