Where does the father of the groom go?

Ruby, on August 24, 2011 at 5:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Okay, so I'm making my programs right now. The music director had us pick a song for every person in the bridal party EXCEPT the father of the groom. Where in the world is he supposed to be during this whole experience?

Both my parents are walking me down the aisle. Does father of the groom walk with mother of the groom or ...?

The order i decided to do is the groom, clergy, best man walk first no music this starts the cermony off. and then the grandparents, and parents walk, so the groom's father comes into play then with his wife if he has one.

Really??? A different song for Every person in the bridal party??? I'm so confused. so the 1st BM will have a song for 30 seconds, then when the next one walks down the aisle, the music will change? So confused.

FOG can escort his wife in right before the Bridal party starts walking down the aisle. Or MOG can be escorted by an usher and Dad walks right behind them.

    The guests are seated.

The groom, best man and Officiant enter by using a side door. They all stand facing the guests.

An usher escorts the grandmother(s) of the B to their seats.

An usher escorts the grandmother(s) of the G to their seats.

An usher escorts the mother and father of the G to their seats.

An usher escorts the mother of the bride to her seat. Her father is also seated, if he is not walking her down the aisle.

    Processional music begins.

The bride's mother (and father) stand(s)

    All the guests stand

The ushers walk down the aisle (or escort the bridesmaids) and stand next the groom and best man....

The bridesmaids walk down the aisle.

The maid and/or matron of honor walk(s) down the aisle.

The ring bearer walks down the aisle.

The flower girl walks down the aisle or the flower girl and ring bearer walk down together.

Processional music changes and/or the volume increases.

The father of the bride escorts the bride down

We are doing one song for the ushering of the parents and grandmas, one for the bridesmaids and one for me. We have kind of a long aisle.

Grandma L (dad's mom) will walk in first with one nephew-usher.

Grandma K (mom's mom) will be pushed in her wheelchair by nephew-usher #2.

My mom will walk to the front with nephew-usher #3

FH will escort his mother, with his father following behind then take his spot at the front.

Then neices with flowers to remember our grandparents who can't be there.

Then BM/GM combos. MOH/BM, flowergirl and me!!

My FIL escorted my MIL down the aisle, along with my husband, MIL was in the middle and took an arm of FIL and DH.

Everyone stands just before the bride walks down aisle (officiant should ask them to stand, and then to be seated).

MOG can be escorted by FOG. If escorted by usher or groom, FOG walks just behind.

The father of the groom either comes in behind the mother of thr groom (who is escorted by an usher) or with the mother of the groom. I always thought it was a little silly to have the mother of the Groom escorted by an usher when her husband was right there and could to the job credibly.

for us, my husbands Father died a few years ago, so we actually had my husband escort his mother to her seat and then he took his place at the front.
