Where do you come up with the extra time???

Michelle, on June 16, 2019 at 2:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I wanted to do late night snacks but I don't feel like there is enough time and I definitely don't want to waste my money. Here is my timeline. Where can the late night snacks fit in? or should I even have them? I feel like my guest would already be full. But they may need food to help sober them up. What do you think??? Also My wedding is on NYE I was thinking about closing the bar at 1230 or should it go until 1am. I don't want people to be pissy drunk trying to drive back to their hotel. Especially since most of our guest will be from out of town and it's going to be packed downtown(my wedding is being held downtown). Or will my guest be mad that the bar is closing an hour before it's over? I want them to have a good time. From the time dinner is over is 2.5 hours enough time for drinking and dancing on NYE??

730-8 Ceremony

8-9 Cocktail Hour - Passed apps and drinks

Dinner/Toast/First Dances 9-10 or 1030??? Dinner will consist of Beef, Chicken, potatoes, Veggies, Mac& Cheese Salad and rolls

party 1030-1am or 130am???

I would have the party end at 1:30 and close the bar at 1. I think you could serve a late night snack at 12 but this may be a know your crowd thing. The late night snacks are always a huge hit in our circle. Are you doing a hotel block? Is there any way to shuttle guests to and from the venue? I wouldn’t want any of my guests having to drive back to the hotel at 1am on NYE, whether they’d been drinking or not. Even if they’re sober, I’m sure they’ll be lots of people on the road who aren’t.

We do have a block at the Marriott downtown but unfortunately they don't have a shuttle service. But It's only a 3 minute drive from the venue which is a plus

My caterer told me to skip the late night snack. I was disappointed bc I really wanted to do it but she said since we are doing food stations and a later start time there was no need. Your caterer should be able to advise you on this.
We are however doing an after party (our reception ends at 11pm) at my parents house. They will have plenty of late night snacks to offer.
NYE weddings are so fun- whatever you decide will be great!!!

Yes I think with a later start time, the reception is a late night snack. Ours is later (getting married starting at 6 and then we have to hop from one venue to the next, arrive and all that jazz), so we're going with a really chill comfort food buffet. We'll have some nuts and candy (favors, and no, no nut allergies; we checked) on the tables and then cake. I also considered a late night snack but as you said, there's just no time.
