My sister swears by the tutorials on YouTube for hair and makeup. Centerpiece wise I would not be much help because my wedding is December 7th so my centerpieces will be decorated garland.

Just to keep a eye on. Sometimes when you DIY and are going big you spend more then if you got it done. So far my fiancé is DIYing our card box and our thank you blocks. We are doing ginga blocks for people to sign then glueing them to gather and hanging it up. Anyways we are spending more. It is ok cause we will reuse both things.

My fiancé said that to me when I mentioned it. Sometimes spending more on what you want is okay. I plan on using all the decoration I can from our wedding that I make in our home afterwards so I’m not really losing or wasting money. I’m already stressed planning my wedding lol

Just be cautious. DIY does not necessarily mean that’s the cheaper route.

I wouldn’t recommend DIY hair and makeup unless you’re really good at it. One of my friends did that and it didn’t seem worth it. But I am doing DIY centerpieces, altar arrangements, bouquets, etc. I worked with a stylist from Bloominous to get everything I wanted and it cut my floral cost in half. The DIY part is right before your wedding, they ship you the stems/kit and you have to assemble everything. Great for a budget bride with helpful bridesmaids

I’m also a budget/DIY bride and I agree with everyone else: DIY doesn’t mean cheaper! I started by searching for ideas and selecting the look I was going for (Pinterest). Then I started pricing materials (Facebook marketplace, hobby lobby, michaels, Amazon). Get on mailing lists so, you can get coupons and sales alerts. Knowing WHEN to buy can save you lots of money. Also, now that I’m further along in planning, I was able to talk to my decor person and come up with a plan together based on my DIY ideas and hers. I realized that some things are cheaper for her to provide, some are cheaper for me to provide, but that came through a thorough conversation. Being a budget bride may save you money but, it will cost you valuable time. So, be prepared and have a strategic plan! Oh! And have fun lol!

This is exactly the mindset I took on decor after I realized how much a wedding can cost

do you have a theme? Color palette?

are you starting now completely for scratch or looking to put together what you’ve already bought?

if you search diy on here there are many people’s projects and most seem friendly and willing to share their process

youtube diy vids are very useful eventually but you need to find someone who is knowledgeable, good at explaining what he or she is doing, and gives accurate and inclusive materials lists in my opinion so it’s worth it to “shop” them as well

i never get anywhere by clocking pins on Pinterest but I know others do and regardless you can get inspiration there and google/YouTube whatever they call it in the titles

good luck on all your projects and happy planning!! I hope your dream day comes out perfectly!

Thank you all for your ideas. I have decided to work side by side with a designer who’s gonna help me do them exactly how I want. . As far as hair and make up , no I will not do them myself . I am a hair stylist and can do my make up well but I’d much rather have someone do my hair and make up then to have to worry about it myself that day
