Where do I put the card box and gift table?

elisabeth, on December 16, 2016 at 10:57 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Where should I place the card box and gift table? Should it be in the lobby as my guest walk in or somewhere in the reception area?

Thank you!

Every wedding I've been to had it in the lobby as guests walked in. They had it near the guest book

I'd put it in the room, preferably near you. In the lobby is unsafe and it causes traffic problems too.

Our cocktail hour is in the patio area, we will put the table out there since guests will be there first.

I'll just have my DOC in charge of the cards.

My table will be next to our table... I don't want to risk any of my guests cards being stolen due to checks and etc being in there.

My sister had cards stolen at her wedding because she left it in the lobby and one of her guests bank accounts were then hacked because of the check they gave my sister. People don't realize it but checks have your entire bank account number, routing number, address, etc. it's so easy for someone to take that information and use it elsewhere.

Please do not put it in the lobby for the sake of your guests.

    ETA: words are hard!

Our venue suggested to place it in the ballroom where the reception is being held. It needs to be visualized at all times.

Ours will be in the room over to the right against a wall I think. Usually the venue has good suggestions on things like this. Pretty much every wall is going to have something so it's just a matter of where to put what.

We part ours inside the hall right as guests walked in (not in the lobby cocktail area).

I'm putting ours near the cake inside the room. I don't think I would feel comfortable with it out of everyones sight especially when people know there is a wedding going on.

Our venue is like an old farm house. What's really cool is they have this beautiful antique truck that they'll use if the weather is nice as a gift table! Otherwise, they go into the house on a table, which I don't really mind. I would suggest keeping it somewhere I'm the reception room though. If the lobby is small, it can cause traffic issues.

I would probably put it next to our table. But if you have it out in the lobby, should have a person watching the gifts of course.

We had our card box off to one side of our sweetheart table. Not right next to it, but close enough to be visible.
