where do bride & groom stand during readings?

momo, on July 14, 2016 at 7:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hi All! I am finalizing some aspects of my ceremony and I just can't figure out one thing - where should the bride and groom stand during the readings? We are having an outdoor ceremony and there will be 2 short readings before the vows. I'm not sure where my fiancee and I should be during these - off to the side looking on? I don't want it to look awkward - any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

All readings that I've seen, the bride and groom stand where they are holding hands and the reader is off to the side with a mic reading.

I have them stand where they are already, and I move away from the mic so the reader can step in.

Celia, so the bride and groom are in the front middle facing the reader who is in the center? and their backs are to the crowd? or is the reader off to the side?

Just off to the side, but look at your readers (even if it's at their backs)

ETA: We had the microphone for the readers set up off to the side.

The speaker is usually off to the side.

I usually have the readers off to one side or the other -- between the front row of seats and the wedding party -- facing the guests. If I have a mic, I pass it to them.

We're doing a church wedding so maybe that makes it easier, but we're staying in the center and the readers will be at the lectern which is off to the side.

On mobile so I can't add this to my other post but this is us looking at one of our readers (in bright blue), to give you a visual.

You should ask your officiant. We all do this a little differently and sometimes when the reading comes in the ceremony will be a factor as well. Asking your officiant will also let you have a conversation. If a couple tells me "we don't want to look anywhere but at each other" then I'd step out of the way and let the reader stand at center. If a couple says "we would like to be able to see our reader when he reads" I'll make sure that happens. Letting is know your thoughts helps us give you the experience you are hoping for.

The readers are off to the side and the bride and groom stay where they are.

My couples face each other, not with their backs to the crowd.
