Where did you all take your paper to be cut to size?

Former MDLS now Mrs. K, on August 29, 2010 at 4:28 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I've been putting off taking my paper to be cut this weekend because I'm scared they are going to screw up the cutting. I was planning to take it to Staples or Office Depot but am tempted to just take my paper to a local printing store when they open again tomorrow. Any experience with anyone that you can tell me about, thanks!

Why can't you cut them yourself?

FedEx Kinko's have cutter out in the open. You can also buy a slicer for not that much money at just about anywhere- office supply and craft stores, even Walmart.

If you take it somewhere- they will charge you alot for something you can do simply yourself.

Ditto @ Meghan. I spent an hour one afternoon doing all of my cutting at FedEx Kinko's for free.

I don't think you should worry too much about a professional screwing up their work. While it's true accidents happen, a quality professional would certainly have a replacement/refund policy in place to help give added security to their process. This, of course, is definitely not something you can have by doing it yourself.

However, everyone is different and if you feel secure in cutting it yourself, I say go for it. I own a paper cutter that I bought from Hobby Lobby and it works great for small projects. I'd completely recommend it for anyone wanting to DIY cutting paper projects.

Actually- let me revise that. The cutter at my local FedEx kinkos has a dull blade. Be careful and cut one page at a time.

Honestly, they aren't very expensive- I'd just go buy one. I have one for scrapbooking projects and use it all the time, not just for scrapbooking. Totally worth the small fee!

I have a Fiskars cutter but figure I will be making 1200 cuts with all the inserts and invitations I need to send out and wanted to save myself the frustration. I may just cut a few myself so that I can at least do something productive this weekend, lol!

Do it over time... 10 or so a day. That way it won't seem too bad. Cut a few while you're watching TV, and don't forget- FH is perfectly capable of helping!
