Where can we cut costs on details?

Brina328, on December 2, 2019 at 4:30 PM Posted in Planning 1 15
I will you be ordering programs, menu cards, escort cards, along with invitations? What will you omit if anything? I’m looking to cut costs where possible.

I would only recommend doing programs if you're having a religious ceremony where the majority of your guests won't know the traditions. Menus aren't necessary. Escort cards are only a necessity if you're doing a plated meal. Otherwise you could consider a seating chart which could be done much cheaper with a $5 template from Etsy printed for $10 from Staples or somewhere similar.

I'm honestly not ordering any of those. Most of the people I am inviting are internet savvy, and I am doing everything via the Wedding Wire website. I am printing one save the date/invite for my Grandmother, but Walgreens can make those for .80 a print.

If you don't need it/want it, it's ok to go without.

You don't need programs or menu cards for sure. My escort cards cost me about $10 because I bought foiled tent cards at Walmart and hand-wrote them - but these are only necessary if you're doing assigned seating of any kind.

We’re also not doing programs or escort cards. I will be creating a seating chart sign with table numbers and a small food menu sign. We were in the same boat and didn’t want to spend a bunch on printed products since everything adds up quickly. I’m sure some people will recommend online invites to cut costs too

I didn’t do menu cards or programs and made my own seating chart using a template I bought from Etsy. Save your money.

We didn’t have programs, menus, or escort cards. We did do a seating chart, which was fairly inexpensive.

I am not having menus, escort cards or programs. The menu will be on our website. That does cut back on cost. And our wedding favors will be doubling as table/seating info.

You can make your own. I bought card stock and found templates online and just printed my own

I created my own wedding programs and will be printing them myself at home. We are not doing menu cards. We are having a taco buffet at the reception. We will be doing escort cards, but again I'm printing those myself. (I have a nice printer at home). I got my invitations off of Etsy for $19 and the paper at Joann's for $20. I will be printing them myself. I'm doing electronic rsvp's so as to save money on stationary.

I'd creatively do a program at the entrance of the ceremony area so you don't have to print a million of them. They're going to end up in the trash anyway. Same for the menus. I'm going to write it on a mirror in calligraphy at the front of the serving line.

I like that idea. The FH is old school and wants the programs. Thanks for this suggestion. Where did you find the classy mirrors?

Facebook marketplace! I searched “gold mirrors” and people are selling really big expensive mirrors for $20-$50.
