Where can I rent dance floor for outdoor wedding?

Anita, on November 3, 2014 at 2:05 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

I am having an outdoor wedding at my home. I live in Kunkletown which is near Effort in the Poconos, and have called several places to try and rent a dance floor. The Party Shack & Handyman Rental in Pocono Summit was the most recommended but I live 30 miles from there and they say they do not travel that far. Other rental places rent tables/chairs/grills ect but not dance floors. Please does anyone know of any other places that might rent a dance floor?

Hey, she did some work on this one. She called around. Now she's asking for recommendations.

Lucy, the 3rd link I found was a company that provides the service and is not either of the ones she listed. the ones she called are the only ones WW has linked. nothing else shows in her area. she should keep calling locations. sometimes there isn't a vendor for what you need.

I find it odd that they wouldn't travel 30 miles. We have rental companies that have traveled much farther than that. What else were you looking to rent from them?

Why not change your header to something like "POCONOS Brides...need help on rentals!" - Might get you better results and the WW ladies who are not in your area won't be peeved to read a post that isn't general. Good luck.

Thanks for all the use Google comments, but where did you think I got the names of the 8 party rentals I did call. I also used the old fashioned yellow pages(online by the way) If you can't be helpful I guess it's easier to be nasty.

I'm not being smart at all by saying this but I goggled "dance floor rentals" and put in my city and state and that is how I found mine. However some other things I've goggled didn't come up so easily. Sometimes you have to switch words around. Another thing I found helpful is asking vendors that I have already booked. They do weddings a lot and sometimes they have their preferred vendors list. GL!

    No one was nasty OP.

ETA: This is an international board, the chances of us knowing that area is super slim, so Google is the best advice we have.

You may want to look at other vendors far from you that are willing to come that far. I'm having an outside wedding as well and the rental company I'm using is traveling 45 miles to get to me. There is a rental place closer, in my town, but the one almost an hour away was way cheaper even with the increase in travel costs.

I must also admit I'm getting more than a 12x16 dance floor from them.

Yeah, have you booked any other vendors yet? they usually have recommendations for other vendors that they have worked with and should be able to help you find something in your area at least? A lot of my vendors were recommendations from my venue, I know you aren't booking a venue, but maybe a caterer or photographer or someone may have some suggestions.

Actually...wouldn't the venue have suggestions for you?

She said she is having it at her home, that's why I figured if she had other vendors they might be able to help.

Perhaps the local rental company that you will use for everything else would be willing to pick up the floor from the distant rental company. Or suggest that a portable dance floor is something the local company should add to its inventory.

Thank you everyone for your helpful comments. As suggested, I did ask some of the vendors I interviewed for other things, most were able to refer me to someone who could refer me onto someone who might be able to help. And I did ask a couple of places who rented tables/chairs ect for parties who didn't rent floors but said that it sounded like something "they " should start doing just in case someone else was looking too, which I thought was pretty funny. The hunt is still on! I will not be defeated by a few missing floorboards even if I have to build one myself (my fiance said God forbid and to STAY AWAY from his chainsaw!! I'm totally sure cutting wood is involved somehow. He just doesn't want to share his toys!!) If all else fails we'll dance on the cool grass and no ones feet will be hurting at the end of the day. Yaayyy! for no sore feet. Everyone have a wonderful week and thanks again. I'm heading out for another hunt and gather session.

At my old job we made a dance floor (granted we did it on a harder surface than grass or outdoor space) by buying cheap pergo (faux wood flooring) and putting it together and adding a border. might be an option. depending on the ground you'd be putting it on, but that would affect any dance floor.
