Where can I find a gown, to buy and have immediately? Online- with fast delivery, or in So. CA area!

christina, on January 25, 2009 at 1:52 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

I wonder if anyone could help guide me in the best direct?

I'm getting married April 11th 09' In less than 3 monthsSmiley smile

Without enough time to order a gown, is there an arena of used, or immediate delivery options available? I would love any advise or suggestions.

Second hand, or sample dresses? Where should I be looking? I'm a size -8-10-12-

I'm in the So. CA. area. Willing to shop online if quaranteed delivery!?!

Along with quality in style, I love the idea of discounted pricing! Has anyone heard of renting a gown?

Thanks for listening! Happy planning!

My friend's sister bought her dress from a David's Bridal right off the rack since her wedding was 2 weeks from when she went shopping. Here's another site that might help you if you're willing to get something more suited for a beach wedding

I would be careful of buying a gown on line. You never know what you might get. However, you may want to check out Ann Taylor or J Crew. I saw some really nice dresses on their websites. I am not sure if the dresses are available in their stores. At least you know these stores are reputable. You can also try your luck at a sample sale. Good luck.

I got my dress straight off the rack for $300 from originally over $900. it was discontinued so couldn't be ordered and the shop owner had just gone to market and had to move some merchandise out. but definitely check out david's bridal. i think their $99 gown sale is still going on.

Have you heard of Encore Bridal in Los Angeles? There website is http://www.encorebridal.com/. As they say in their website

"A consignment and resale bridal e-Boutique, Encore Bridal offers new, sample, and nearly-new couture that will take your breath away - at a price that won't! "

    Might be worth checking out.

Many wedding stores and private owner sell dresses on

    www.craigslist.com

You can see pictures, search by size, and it can save you hundreds of dollars. Be careful of scams. If the dress it at someones home, you may want to take a friend with you.

Normally I wouldn't suggest e-bay, but this seller (honey-bridal) has so many rave reviews / sold so many dresses (over 1000) that I'm purchasing my own from here: http://myworld.ebay.com/honey-bridal/

It's a custom-order company in China, and from what everyone else has said, they're pretty reliable / can get you your dress in about a month; you just need to pick your style (or provide them a template / discuss what you want, which you can do over e-mail or with this online tool they have) and send her your measurements.

    Good luck!

Take a deep breath, you will make things work. I have a lot of used and new gowns in stock, especially the sizes listed above, feel free to check out my site, I have a bridal priceline set up, so if you see something you like make an offer. I offer free shipping. My stock is in NY so I could have the gown to you in about 5-7 days. Remember to relax things will work out if you stay focused.

    Best Wishes,

Jinny's Bridal in Huntington Beach sells off the rack, so do all David's Bridal stores, just tell them you need to buy off the rack & they will show you what is in stock. You may also have good luck with JcPenny's, Macy's, etc. they have many wedding gowns available online that ship immediatley. Good luck!

Look in your phone book for costume shops. Some of them also rent dresses. You could also call around to some of your bridal shops and see if they rent dresses. If you want to buy though I would suggest a place like David's Bridal. They carry most of their dresses in most sizes. I could have gone home with my dress when I picked it out. But I'm quite short so I ordered the petite version instead so my seamstress wouldn't have to shorten it so much. You could also check resale shops and consignment shops in your area. I wouldn't suggest shopping online though. By the time you get the dress you might not have time to return/exchange it if there is anythign wrong with it.

Hi - sounds like my 2 week deadline! (Yeah - I procrastinated!) David's Bridal was great! the thing is are you looking for white only? You'd have a lot better luck if you're flexible. I found a beautiful strapless gown, and a lovely spring like yellow and white dress and a beautiful blue strapless gown all at David's Bridal, all under $250. But I had a very, very strict budget! And in the end Dillard's had my dress! Ivory, (not strapless) empire waist dress that moved with the wind! (I had a beach wedding) And it came with a satin like cropped jacket! It cost $110.00!! Score!!!

Don't get discouraged - just think outside the box, it give you more options!! :o)

If you are anywhere near Downtown Los Angeles, the Scholarship Store at Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising normally carries wedding dresses and MOB attire at deep, deep, discount. I was there in December and they were only $40. They don't have a huge selection of sizes on the wedding dresses. I would give them a call and ask if they have any dresses in stock and then check it out.

Any alterations or special cleaning can be done at your drycleaners.

    Good luck!

I went to a local bridal shop and looked for dresses, they had a whole rack of clearance and discontinued dresses or "off the rack" it was a cash and carry dress...and gorgeous too i might add $450.00 bucks! So take a weekend and go to all the local bridal shops and see if they have clearance/discontinued gowns. this is the time of year since the new line of 2009 dresses are out.

I ordered a dress from peridress.com they dresses come from China, and it only took about 4 weeks to get the dress and the shipping if free, they are only $150 and are very nice, my sister and my friend both ordered dress from here, and I ordered 2 just because they were such a good deal, I would get a size bigger than you measure because you can always get it tailored to fit you perfect in about a week! good luck!
