Where are you getting your flowers?

Michelle, on October 9, 2023 at 2:54 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
Did you find the best deal from a regular wedding florist, a grocery store florist, a wholesale florist open to the public (either a wholesale flower market in a major city or FiftyFlowers.com/Costco)?

I guess it depends on what you consider "the best deal". Faux flowers were less expensive, but I didn't care for how they looked. Getting flowers from a grocery store or wholesaler would also have been cheaper, but I didn't want the hassle of having to transport and construct the bouquets and centerpieces (nor did I think I had the talent to do so LOL). For me, the "best deal" was the one that allowed me to have beautiful flower arrangements, with the least amount of time and effort expended. So we went with an experienced florist within our budget.

We went with a florist. I first tried making my own bouquets using Sola wood flowers, but quickly learned that I am NOT skilled in that lol, so we booked a florist. It took away a lot of time and stress that I otherwise would have spent on DIY, and our flowers turned out beautiful from the florist!

By “best deal” better said as during the research of pricing and comparing services and what was offered at each, what was most cost effective that fit your vision and budget? Some couples have a specific preference based on a Pinterest/Instagram post they fall in love with and are not into an alternative look, and others don’t have any preference and feel that flowers are not a priority but rather than skip them they go with the cheapest option they find. Also some couples love DIY though they forget to account for time/labor/sanity costs and others prefer to pay for the professional vendors to do their work.

Exactly! So I guess it's really subjective. For us, the peace of mind and lack of stress definitely outweighed the additional costs. But I know for some people, the savings outweigh everything. What did you find the "best deal" for you was?

I'm going with a silk bouquet from Etsy and fresh garlands from Costco that I'm adding sola wood flowers to. I didn't want to spend much, but I also didn't want to be arranging fresh flowers the day before my wedding. Plus, I really love the look of sola flowers!

I went with a florist who works regularly with my venue. I wanted minimum of stress, and this way she’ll have everything set up at the start and clean up at the end. Low stress is very important to me. Plus I’ve been in so many weddings where I had to do so much work before and after the wedding, and I don’t want to do that to my friends.

I wet with a florist for my arrangements. It was easier for me to do this and I stayed within a budget. I didn’t want the stress of ordering flowers and trying to put them together.

I went to a local florist and feel she was the best deal because we trusted her with our vision and budget, plus she had contracted plans of storage and delivery. DIY was not right for my skills and stress level. I very rarely looked at Pinterest for inspiration as I didn't care to copycat flowers. Florals was our only decor other than venue uplighting.

I'm also going with a florist, mainly because I won't have time to set everything up myself at both the church and the reception ballroom!

We went with a grocery store florist. They created 12 centerpieces and all the flower pins and bouquets. All we had to do was put the centerpieces in the vases on the table. It was less than a $1000 and we got so many compliments! Granted we were married in a garden so we didn’t need any extra floral decor so that could influence your choice.
