Where are my curly haired girls at? :)

My wedding will be in Jamaica... and with that will come a ton of humidity.

Instead of having my my hair professionally done, which will probably just frizz our anyway with the moisture in the air, I am playing with the idea of having my hair naturally curly for the day.

Do any of you curly haired ladies have any go-to styles that you recommend? Here is a photo of my hair in its natural state Smiley smile

Your hair is beautiful! I have a similar situation where I’ll probably leave my hair naturally curly for my engagement photos in DC (they’re in April so it could definitely be rainy!)

Do you ever use any products? I’ve used the air dry cream from Monat (expensive) and the air dry cream from L’Oréal (not expensive) and both work really well to limit the frizz without adding the dreaded hair crunchiness 😂

I can’t get a good pic on mobile...I’ll come back later

but my hair dresser suggested a curled style. My curls are less defined than yours but I have a lot of volume and it can be very frizzy. If she curls it with the iron then styles it, if it gets wet or humid it’s a little less noticeable. I’ve gone this route a few other times and it’s a great compromise!

My wedding was indoors, but I’m from Florida and live in Singapore, so I know all about the frizz! I’m really liking the Shea Moisture products (styling and detangling creams) for keeping things smooth. As for styles, my go-to updo (and what I did for my wedding) is basically dampening my hair, piling it on top of my head, and pinning it up with a zillion bobby pins. My stylist used a small-barrel curling iron to define any misbehaving bits, and of course left out a few bits around the edges. Sorry it’s a little hard to see in the picture: I didn’t get any good pictures from the back.

I love your hair and think it would look so good natural! I suggest Briogeo frizz ge, it's the only product that doesn't let my hair frizz out in the humidity Smiley smile

A little late to the game on this thread... but I have really long, really curly hair. I've recently started following the Curly Girl method... and it looks AMAZING. I have always used a diffuser and mousse to scrunch, and a smoothing balm after, but still got frizzies. Ever since I started actually doing some of the tricks recommended in this method it's like - a miracle of frizz-free beautiful hair. I'll admit to being a little vain about it - it's my best feature, being a redhead. FWIW, I live in Georgia where it's super humid all the time so I've battled this for a long time and tried every product known to man.

The key for me was to follow the squish-to-condish method in the shower, gently scrunch with a microfiber towel, then a curling custard followed by gel into the wet hair (all before I get out of shower). Then I "plop" the hair into the microfiber towel and let it sit like that while I'm getting ready. When I'm ready to leave the house, I take it out of the towel and scrunch it a few times (it's still pretty wet) then let it air dry completely. For me this takes about 3+ hours, lol. (You can diffuse instead of air dry but I haven't been in that much of a hurry to do so since following CG method - I don't care if I show up to my office with wet hair)

It will look strange at this point while it develops the "cast" which is the hard crunchy feel/appearance it takes on while drying with the gel, etc. BUT THEN. Here is where the miracle happens. When it's completely dry, flip upside down and scrunch it gently to "break" the cast. The curls are beautifully formed and frizz-free! If you still have a little frizz just spritz with some shine spray or smoothing whatever (CG approved of course). I'm telling you it has changed my life.

;tldr - Check out the Curly Girl method

Love your hair! I'm planning to wear my natural curls day of as well, just wouldn't feel like myself without them! My favorite curly hairstyle tutorials are by Hair Romance, you can find her on pinterest or youtube and I would start practicing hairstyles to see what you like! Good luck!
