Where are my 2020 Geek/nerd Brides at?!

8Bitbek, on July 16, 2019 at 6:24 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 11

So my fiance and I are very into video games and nerd culture. I'm trying to find ways to incorporate our fandoms and personalities while also remaining classy. I'm planning on having my processional be Far Off Promise/Epilogue from Chrono Trigger and our recessional be the Fanfare from CT as well since it's one of my favorite games of all time. I haven't decided if the table naming scheme is going to be soley video game themed, or if we're going to mix in some favorite movies and TV shows as well, but I also don't know if that would be too... all over the place? What are your thoughts, and in what ways are you going to incorporate your fandoms into your wedding?

I think naming them after TV shows or whatever for your tables is a good way to do it. You could even make centerpieces that way. Maybe you can have a party favor that's related to one of the things you're biggest fans of? If you have a bar you can even make signature drinks named after your random.

My FH didn't have a lot of requests for the wedding but he wants out processional to be a song from Final Fantasy, our wedding party will walk out to Cowboy Bebop theme song (FH is also a big anime nerd), our cake topper will be Totoro & I saw these really cute toasting flutes that have Zelda heart containers & say Player 1 & Player 2

We are getting 2 cake toppers.
One Star Wars. One Wonder Woman and Superman.
Comic book and book flowers instead of real ones in bouquets and boutineers. (Probably sticking with mostly Marvel and Ninja Turtles here.)
Our flower girls are wearing Minnie Mouse skirts. Hoping to find something for our ring bearers that complements that.
We're trying to be very subtle.

We're also big hockey fans, and I'm trying to convince him that our teams victory song should be our recessional.

I’m an Otaku (big anime fan) and my FH is a video game nerd/developer and anime fan as well! Nerd love brought us together lol. We’re going to have a game station for guest to play Tekken (the game we played together in college) and Dragonball Z Fighterz ( my favorite show 🤩). #TeamPlaystation

We’re also trying to think of subtle/artist ways of incorporating our fandom, but we (especially him) don’t want it to end up looking like a birthday party if you know what I mean. There are some nifty ideas on Pinterest! Maybe do the table numbers as TV shows/ video games. If you have a photo booth you could use items from the game as props. Good luck and keep us posted! Nerds unite👊🏽✌🏾!

I love the “Tank” entrance idea! That’s gonna be so fly, that song rocks. What Final Fantasy theme are you using?

We are doing a disney themed wedding and will be incorporating Star Wars into it as it’s my fh favorite. We are going to do a lightsaber exit for example.

Went to a wedding that the couple was way into video games and such. Darth Vader was the flower girl and a storm trooper gave my friend, the bride away. It was also an October "Halloween" wedding in which we all dressed up in costume. I was C Viper from street fighter.

Darth Vader as the flower girl was amazing. The way he tossed the flowers...😂. Literally the best wedding ever especially because the majority of guests were into cosplay.

The ceremony included light sabers. The bride and groom changed into costumes for the reception - hers was a yellow evening gown and he was a knight in shining armor with a massive sword.

Hopefully that gives you some ideas even if you go with different aspects or movies, etc.

I actually love the idea of the game props for the photobooth! We might have to do that. I know there are some companies that have Mario hats as a prop; I'd have to see if they have a Princess Peach crown because FH calls me Peach after her. Smiley smile Nerd love brought us together too!
