Hello my fellow short brides! I'm under 5ft, and have just embarked on the quest to find "the dress." Hello my fellow short brides! I'm under 5ft, and have just embarked on the quest to find "the dress." I had 1 appointment already which unfortunately was more traumatizing than anything because the consultant had no idea what to do with me. Not only am I short in stature, I'm also curvaceous, which means I need larger sizes but also petite to account for the hem length/shorter torso/short shoulders/etc. In need of some comfort or at least a confidence boost as I continue to look, I was hoping to hear from some other brides with similar height/curvy body situations to see what you lovely ladies ended up with for dresses? Any particular designers to look out for petite sizes? I figure going with a petite dress may help save on alterations in the long run. I'm looking for a floor length dress. My appointment was at David's Bridal as I wanted to have an "exploratory start" but I probably would have been better off elsewhere Smiley sad All help is appreciated!

I'm 5'1" and ordered a Maggie sottero 4 inches short. I think they also offer a petite option that adjusts the proportions but my dress was a rush so we didn't have time for that. It was altered in the body to fit. Looked perfect.

I know, unfortunately wedding planning had to be put on the back burner for a few months. We may have to postpone. Smiley sad

Once we find a dress, hopefully it won’t be too crazy. Lol

I'm 5'1 and thought I wanted an a line to hide my hips and balance the girls. I tried them on and felt way too poofy! I ended up with an off the rack sheath and I love it because I don't feel like I'm swimming in it. It will be hemmed.

Im 5'0 and bought a sample off the rack. It's all about where the waist line is. Make sure you have a good BRIDAL seamstress.

I am 5'2" and they said I could have any dress I wanted and they would make the sizing work. Just need the right seamstress!

Depends on the style of the dress. Mine is tulle at the bottom, so I could order a regular and they just cut it off. If the dress has a design around the bottom or specific detailing, like scallop edges and such, you need to order it specific to your height or you would pay a fortune in alterations.

I am 5'3" and I am pretty sure all samples were cut for brides at least 5'8" because even in 4" heels, they were too long.

I can't really suggest my experience as an option because I went through AA months before they closed down. But I got a ball gown size 20W off the rack and had to only get it hemmed. 9 total inches!!

I'm 4'10" my dress size is 16. I got my dress at DB. I think you just had a bad person helping you. My girl was amazing. Even put me in dresses that I didn't think I could pull off. I would just pay attention to the bottom like most of the girls already said. Here's my dress
