How long before the day do you go do cake sampling? Is it both H & W to be?

If you need to book a baker, then you should do it around the same time you are booking other vendors just because you want to make sure they are available. If your venue provides the cake (mine is partnered with a local bakery, so it was part of our package), you don't have to do the cake tasting until like 2 months out. I would suggest both partners go just because you want to pick a cake both of you like the taste and look of.

Our wedding is in December of this year and we booked our bakery in March. The only reason being is because people are going to be having Christmas party’s booking near our wedding date, and we wanted to make sure we booked 1st. Funny thing is the bakery already have events planned for December booked at the time we booked ours!!

I was told cake should be done 3-6 months in advance of your date. We've got a tasting at the beginning of January for our July wedding. I'm definitely taking my fiance because he's much more picky about his food than I am, but even if he wasn't, I'd want to get his input on the cake as well.

If you're going to an established place with flavors that aren't going to change, you can go even earlier - we already liked the bakery we chose (they're technically a cupcake shop, so we'd been before) but we did a tasting when we met with them to discuss booking them. We have plenty of freedom to change flavors from what we selected then, and can always stop by to grab a cupcake to try if they get any new options in.

We're getting married on Leap Day next year, and we're both doing the tasting with our baker tomorrow! I'm super excited. Cake is one of my fave parts of weddings!

We started about 7 months out. We invited my FIL's to go to all major events since they are paying for the majority of the wedding. MY FH is also the first of his siblings to get married so they're super excited. It just so happened that the only tasting either of them were able to attend is the baker we ended up going with.

We are getting married in a little over 3 months and we booked our baker 2 weeks ago, but we started looking and did our first tasting about 6 months out. FH & I attended and I brought two of my friends as well but I think it's up to you guys who goes and also how many guests each bakery allows. Most bakeries we contact/visited allowed 2 guests in addition to the bride and groom.

Our cake came with our venue so we didn't have to search for a baker which was nice. They would not see us until 6 months before the wedding to do a tasting and we could have up to 4 people. FH & I agreed it would be a fun wedding thing for the dads to do since they usually don't get to be as involved in things as the moms. So it was FH, my dad, his step-dad, and myself. We had a blast and, while the dad's didn't really give an opinion on anything, they loved just hanging out and eating cake Smiley smile
