When to turn on battery operated lights for reception

Heidi, on October 12, 2019 at 4:55 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8
I have about 150 battery operated tea lights and pillar candles for my reception decor. When would you all recommend turning them on for the reception? Is it too risky to have them turned on an hour before the ceremony? Ceremony is at 4:30, cocktail hour is at 5:30, dinner is at 7. It will take quite some time to turn all of these on. Thank you!

Do you know the lifetime of the lights? It could be on the packaging. I can't imagine that 6 or 7 hours would be too long. I think an hour before the ceremony would be fine.

We actually tested ours with a new battery to see how long they stayed on - it was two days, and they were still going! We’re planning on setting them up late on the day before the wedding because they lasted so long, and making sure they all have brand new batteries.

Ours will all be turned on about 15 minutes before our festivities start.

I also have quite a few battery operated lights (tealights and fairy lights), I have a couple of extras that I have test run them just to check the amount of time they will run... my fairy lights ran for 36+ hours, and so far the tealight has been going for 6 hours and isn't fading... You could maybe try it out on one if you have an extra. Good luck! :-)

I definitely need to do that. If they last a full two days, night before would be a lot more convenient 😂

It sounds like they'd be able to last even if you had turned em on an hour before

I’d check the package to see if they say how long they last. I’m having battery operated lights too and all mine had the info on the back.
