My DIY Brides!

I am DIYing my flowers and everything décor related, which really isn't a lot. My venue speaks volumes, so it really doesn't need a lot of décor. But I am going to be making 4 flower boxes, some décor to go around sides of the arch, centerpieces, décor for my late mother's empty chair, and small extras like the cake table and sweetheart table..

Now that I'm looking at my list, that feels like a lot to do, but my question is, when do I start these DIY projects? My wedding is currently 5 mo away, and time is narrowing in... Should I start buying stuff and preparing it now? Or is it too soon? When did y'all start your projects?

    I would sign up for email alerts from places like Michael's and Hobby Lobby so that you can buy your supplies on sale. Since you have plenty of time, you may as well get the best price possible. Definitely take advantage of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. Once you have everything, as long as you have room to store the pieces once assembled, go for it!

    Such simple but sound advice. I never thought of email alerts, or the holidays! That's great - I should even ask for gift cards to those vendors during Christmas time and such, that would be a huge help. Thank you! Smiley heart

    I did my own flowers for my wedding. I used real flowers from Fifty Flowers and they turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I got my bridesmaids to help me and we put them all together the night before. I only had 7 bouquets, 8 boutonnières, eucalyptus garland for my head table, and 5 vases filled with flowers for around the venue. It was so fun and not expensive at all!!

    Mine is September 2020 and I’ve already started. I’m hand making all my STDs, invitations, etc. I hope to have the STD done by the end of the week.

    I agree with this. I am taking this month to finalize decisions and making lists of needs so I can start shopping after thanksgiving

    As long as you have somewhere to put it, it doesn't hurt to start early! Then if something unexpected happens, you have more time to fix it Smiley smile

    I had all my time consuming diys done 4 months before the wedding.
    I didn't want to do any of this in the last weeks leading up to it...there is so much still to do right before the wedding.

    They came out absolutely beautiful!! People kept telling me about them and I still have them a week later! This picture is a day after I got them and they had been in buckets of water. Good luck!! Have fun with it Smiley smile
