When to start looking for the dress?

Jessica, on February 10, 2020 at 11:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
I’m getting married 2/27/21. When should I start looking for a wedding dress? How many fittings and how spread apart are they usually?

Thanks so much!!

Congratulations on your engagement. I started looking 10 months out and found one about 8 months out. It can take some time for them to make the dress so 8-10 months would be ideal.

They told me I would need 3 fittings, which I didnt even know until recently & I'm getting married in 2 months. My first fitting was in Jan 27th next one is on March 9th & then they will tell me when my last one is. It was perfect timing for me. I'm glad I called the place because no one had told me.

I found my dress in the first store I went to (I guess I was pretty lucky. Fifth one I tried on and it fit almost perfectly).
I'm getting married June 20, 2020. I found and bought my dress in February of 2019. They let me do a payment plan so I didn't have to pay for it all up front, which is really nice if you have time to do that!
They reccomend doing dress fittings about 6 weeks before you have to wear it for the first time.I just took mine to get alterations done last week and it will be done on March 7th.But I like to plan waay in advance and my time line isn't always what other people like 😅

    Congrats!!!
I also ended up only shopping at one store. However, I researched gown styles and watched SAY yes to the Dress for months prior to familiarize myself with styles and dress lingo. This really helped me communicate to my consultant, what I was looking for.
My dress looks nothing like what I wanted originally. Try on things that call out to you, because your dress will find you!! Be open minded and start your search!Fittings begin about 2 to 3 months prior to your wedding. I bought a sample dress which was available immediately, but if you order one it could take 8 to 10 months to be made.

I would start dress shopping 10-12 months prior to the wedding. There are 2-3 fittings typically. My first fitting was 3 months prior to wedding, second one will be 5 weeks before, and if I need one more it will be 2-3 weeks before.

    Hi Jessica,
Congratulations, I started shopping 20 months prior to the wedding ( Feb. 14, 2021 ) I scheduled 2 appointments a day, usually a week apart, I would recommend bringing as few people as possible with you, to many opinions can cloud your judgement and you can end up trying to please others when your picking YOUR dream dress. I looked online at all the different styles before trying on the dresses so I had an idea of what I liked or disliked, I tried on over 30 before I fell in love with one! dress shopping is FUN, enjoy the process 👰When to start looking for the dress? 1

My wedding is April 2021 but I started looking this year. I don't think it's ever too soon to look.
