When to start looking for a dress?

Caitlin, on November 18, 2019 at 8:18 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
When did y'all start looking for a dress? Our wedding is set for Oct 2021, so I'm not look yet but I'm not sure when the "normal" time frame to start looking?

I got married October of last year. I ordered my dress in December the year before and it came in July. I started alterations in August and they were done just before my wedding. So I would say about a year or 15 months out is a good time to begin looking.

I think the normal time frame is about a year out. You want to leave enough time for them to get your dress in depending on where you go, and you want to make sure to start your alterations around 2 months out! Congrats and happy searching!

I got married this October. I started dress shopping in December and purchased my dress in January. It gave me plenty of time to order my dress, receive it, and do alterations.

My wedding is in July 2020, I just got my dress three weeks ago. It will arrive in March 25,2020, that is without alterations. That will give me 4 months to make sure all alterations are done & it's perfect before walking down the aisle.
I would start 6 months ahead. But everyone is different.

I ordered my dress 9 months before my wedding, I wouldn’t wait any longer than that since it normally takes 6-9 months to order a dress and then around 3 months for alterations. I actually panicked a little that I started shopping at 9 months considering with my work schedule, I was only able to make salon appointments every other week. Also, book your appointments in advance as much as you can. I thought booking 2 weeks before would be enough time, but the bridal salons I went to were booked so fast.

No more than a year or you may regret it and keep shopping. No less than 6 months or you'll be strapped for time.

I got engaged on March 9th, 2019, wedding is set for November 27th, 2020, and I bought my dress on July 16th, 2019. Go at your own pace. I had to pick a dress in July because my parents are Air Force and stationed in South Korea so July was the one time my mom would be here before my wedding and she was the one person I had to have with me when I said "yes". It's the perfect dress for me too! I work at a bridal boutique and I always joke about how even with all the new dresses we get in, I still love mine the most! Smiley heart
