When To Share Honeyfund?

J, on July 27, 2019 at 12:02 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10
Hello! Our wedding is still 9 months out and we are just about to mail our Save The Dates. My question is, how soon is too soon to start sharing links to our Honeymoon Registry?

My FH & I have been together for 7 years and already own a home & feel like we have everything we need, so we are strictly only asking for money towards our honeymoon. We have opted for a cruise to the ABC Islands, and by NO MEANS do we expect our guests to 100% fund our honeymoon but since it is a cruise we technically do have to have our balance paid off my February 2020 (cruise sets sail first week of May 2020). So its preferred to have as much as we can by Feb, and obviously we will pay whatever difference. But also I don't want to be rude haha. Help!

Put it on your website, stick the address on the save the date. But I wouldn't expect people to contribute until the wedding.

I agree with pp that most guests will not send gifts until right before the wedding or they will bring them to the wedding, and I don't know of any polite way to ask them to do otherwise. That's one of many reasons "honeyfund" type registries don't usually work the way you might want them to.

Im agreeing with PP’ers. I’d put the link on your STD’s. However, until you start having showers or until your wedding, it’s likely no one will contribute. We have a registry with physical items on it plus a honeymoon fund the physical items are being purchased, but I have not received any notification of honeymoon fund contributions. I have 2 bridal showers coming up and my wedding is 2 month and 4 days away.

Not sure what you mean by “sharing links” ...you can include the registry on your website, and include the wedding website link on your save the date. That would be the best course of action. Otherwise you can just share the link directly if someone asks about a registry.

I really wouldnt expect much before the wedding though, most people don’t gift until the wedding itself.

I agree with this. OP, I would not count on your guests actually paying any part of your honeymoon. Instead, those guests who are inclined to give you cash instead of a physical gift usually do so at your wedding but even then it's a "know your crowd" thing. My guests prefer to give physical gifts so I didn't get that much cash at my wedding.

Yeah agree, I don't think people take the time to think Honeymoons technically need to be planned ahead of time 😅. Thank you for your advice!!

Gotcha!! Yeah our group definitely leans more towards gifting money (if they could Venmo they probably would haha). My FH's family are all big on traveling & experiences so we'll see! Thank you for your advice! & congrats on your big day Smiley heart.
