When to send save the dates?

SoonToBeSalazar, on October 15, 2016 at 8:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hello everyone! Quick question for October 2017 brides.. or any brides I guess. Our wedding is a year away and we just got our engagement pictures done this week! Smiley laugh I plan on using them for our Save the Dates, but I was wondering when I should plan to mail those out. Our wedding is on a Friday so I was thinking the earlier the better so that people can plan to take off work and what not. Is the end of November early December too soon to send them?

Never. Because of money and time and the fact that they tie you into a guest list you can't change before you know how expensive everything is. Basically, it's an early invite and if you start running out of money or space, you're still stuck with a guest list made up when you were the most enthusiastic.

We've been having weddings for centuries without STD's. If you have very close guests with situations that you know may impact their decisions, tell them earlier.

STD aren't for everyone. My wedding is on a Friday as well. We have a large amount of our invite list from out of state- mostly family. Each persons thoughts will be different.. however, for us, it's a necessity. I'm planning on sending them out in November 2017 for our June 2018 wedding.

My wedding is labor day weekend and we sent them out about a year in advance. People live out of town, people need to save the money, etc. I thought it was much more courteous to send them out with plenty of time

I'm not anti-STD's at all, but they do lock you in.

I sent mine in late January or early February. My guests were almost all out of town.

Fellow October 2017 Bride. Usually 6-9 months out, but I sent mine yesterday. All of our guests will be coming from out of town and the town doesn't have many lodging opportunities. Other friends/family are getting engaged and keep needing our date. We've also gone over the guest list the past year and narrowed it down. It made sense to us, but I don't recommend it for everyone.

My advice, send them in January. Sending them in November and December makes them get lost in the shuffle of the holidays. Wait until after the New Year - second week in January to send them so people will actually read them and they wont get buried and misplaced.
