When to Send Save The Dates?!

Save The Dates should be sent 6-8 months ahead of time, unless it's a destination wedding or you have a lot of people traveling in from out of town for your wedding - then I would send them 8-12 months in advance (so everyone has time to book travel arrangements).

If it is a local wedding, you usually send out STDs around 6 months prior to the wedding. If it is a destination wedding (or you have a lot of guests traveling out of state she will need to make hotel accommodations, etc.) then you can send them earlier (6 mos-1 year).

I am getting married April 23rd 2022 we sent them out a year in advance since most of our guests need to travel

Also getting married in April 23, 2022, and we sent ours in August (roughly 8 months out).

As soon as you get the date set in stone. Which for most is a year. Anytime between 6-12 months is ideal/standard. Invites will be sent 6-& weeks before the wedding. Be aware that once a save the date is sent, you cannot revoke it.

Ahhhh great advice!! We are having a local one some of my friends will be coming from Alaska so I think ill do the 8-month mark!! Thank you Lisa!! I couldn't imagine doing a destination wedding I would be super super stressed out! Good luck to anyone doing a destination!

Once a save the date is sent, then an invite automatically follows. You cannot revoke the save the date without calling off the wedding.
Giving ALL guests an equal heads up so they can schedule time off, make travel arrangements, save money as they need to is much better. That way there is no assumption made that only traveling guests need the information and local guests can drop their busy schedules on a dime to attend with minimal notice.

Thank you we just secured our venue! We did it a little backwards lol oops we did our budget then found a place loved it & had to stop at 125 guests.. We have a primarily guest list & now we are going through and editing it. I Think we will end at 130.. Its kind of hard we just moved to a new city & we are making friends so it's like how many of those people will we want to invite, because we don't know if we will be renewing our lease. But its good to know we cant revoke someones save the date! Thanks girl!!
