When to send out save the dates???

Tiffany, on January 10, 2020 at 2:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

When should I get my save the dates sent out? Should I include RSVPS with them? My wedding is October 25th 2020!

It depends on if you are having a destination wedding or not! We are having a destination wedding and sent them out 10ish months beforehand. If not, about 6 months before! I wouldn't include RSVPs with them, save those for your invitations!

I read if it is a destination wedding or if the majority of your guests are out of town/state, 8-12 months in advance is a good timeline. Local weddings about 4 months in advance, but personally I think that’s a bit too short of notice.

No on the RSVPs. Those go with the invites.

    6-8 months before the wedding.
RSVPs aren’t included with save the dates.

Our wedding is in October and 100% of our guests (including FH and I) have to travel. Although everyone knows the location, we are sending our save the dates next week. I was trying to let the holiday rush slow down with the post office.

My wedding is 12/31/20...so New Year's Eve. We just ordered ours yesterday (they've already shipped, but won't be here until the 21st). I'm hoping to mail mine out by the end of the month. Since our wedding is on a big holiday weekend, I definitely want to give people notice, and about 70-75% of our guests are from out of town, so that will give them time to book and save!

Do You typically need engagement photos to send with the RSVP?

We did an engagement photo with our Save the Date. I don't know yet if we'll include one with the invitation/RSVP. I think the general rule of thumb is to send out official invitation/RSVP about 2 months out. With your wedding in October, it'll be hard for people to RSVP now, because they likely don't know what they will have going on that far out. I know I personally wouldn't respond, I barely know what I'm doing the next day, I wouldn't have a clue what's going on in my life 9 months away.

I am getting married October 23 2020. I have already started giving out my save the dates. Over the holidays I hand delivered save the dates to friends and family I saw and I'm in the process of writing out the rest to be mailed out.

I am getting married 10/31/2020 and I sent out my save the dates last week. May be a bit premature but in my case I wanted to make sure people didn’t make plans for Halloween not realizing they would be invited to our wedding! You don’t need to send out RSVPs with your save the dates, that will go out with invites! I would say you’re safe to send out save the dates between now and April!
