When to send invites

Destinnie, on September 8, 2019 at 1:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Ok so our wedding is March 21st, however, the venue wants a final head count by December 21st. Should I be sending out the invites now? Or when should I send them and how long should I give guests to send back the RSVPs?

I’ve never heard of a venue needing a guest count three months early. Usually it’s at most a month. I would verify that date, and if that is correct you’ll have to base your rsvp date on that. Probably will have to send them out the beginning of November.

They want the final head count at that point because they require half the cost at the time as well

Hmmmm, don't know if they are flexible but maybe you could ask if you could do half cost of max headcount? Like if you know your guest list is 200, can you pay for 100 and maybe later only 120 come so you just do 20 person cost for final?

You might end up paying more up front that way, but in my head it seems like it would be less stressful. I'd be worried about added people or drops in the 3 months leading up to the date.

If not, then I'd go with PP and do Nov 1 with deadline Dec 1.

6-8 weeks before it is actually needed.

Looking at the 📆, they need to be in sent out by Mid-October with an RSVP date of mid-December. This will give you a 2 week buffer for them all to come in.

I made my seating chart first and used that for invites.

As I received a “no” response, I removed the name(s).

This made it easier for me.

That makes sense also 🤦🏾‍♀️ I didn’t even think about it that way...being so far in advance that people end up changing their minds or whatnot

I would verify with the venue that they need the guest count 3 months early, and see if they will take an estimate.
