When to Send Invites During State’s Re-opening “phases”

Leanne, on May 7, 2020 at 11:09 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 3
Hi everyone, I hope you all are finding peace and distraction during all of this.

We postponed our April 26, 2020 wedding to September 5, 2020. We had already sent out invitations, and had received a majority of our RSVPs back in March.
I have re-ordered invitations with a July 29 RSVP date, our venue needs a final head count by August 5 which is why I chose July 29th to give me a week to follow-up with guests.
We are in Virginia, and our governor is currently rolling out a three phase reopening plan. Phase 1 limited to 10 guests. Phase 2 limited to 50 guests. Phase 3 would have no limit. I’m curious if I send out my invitations beginning or middle of July and we are in phase 2, what do I do if by the time September comes we are in phase 3?
I have my backup list of 50 guests, I guess I should mention I have a guest list of 100 people, with probably 10 vendors in addition to that number.
It’s such an unusual scenario to even try and plan for. I am fine either way at this point with a wedding of 100 people or a wedding a 50 people, of course I would prefer everyone be there that I originally invited. I’m just wondering about the logistics of sending out invitations in phase 2, when the wedding could end up being in phase 3.
Anyone thought of this yet?

Im In VA Too And Also Have Been Thinking About This. Our Guestlist Is Only 60 People, And iWant To Invite All Of Them Like We Normally Would But If For Whatever Reason We Are Still In Phase 2 In October, How Would iPolitely "Uninvite" Guests Due To State Regulations? I'd Hope They'd Be Understanding.

Since You Have 100 People, I'd Say Send Invites For 50 People And Hopefully When/If We Get To Phase 3 Send Those Last 50 Invites Out If It's Not Too Close To The Date. I Think Last Minute Invites For That Many People Would Be Better Then 50 People You Would Have To Uninvite. If It Does Come Down To Only Being Able To Have 50 People, You Could Also Invite The Other 50 To Watch Via Zoom So They Arent Completely Left Out.

That’s a great idea, definitely easier to invite more later than UNinvite. I thought about virtual for those who couldn’t come too.

Hopefully we’ll all have clarity long before then, but who knows.

Hi Leanne! I agree with Trisha - I think it could be wise to have 50 people as your Plan A because you can always invite more guests if it's safe! Everyone understands the current restrictions right now so I would not be offended at all to get a last minute invite. Smiley heart
