You usually send them about 2 months before the wedding. If you think any of your plans might change because of covid, take that into consideration before you send them.

Honestly I say now. That is not too far away and I am a person I plan life events far in advance like travel or maybe work related things. People plan a lot in advance.

Just sent ours tonight for October 3rd. People were asking and we had to make some decisions as far as guest list, so we were a bit anxious to get them in the mail. Plus our postal service seems really delayed recently.

Invites are typically 6-8 weeks. If you don't do STDs, you can do them earlier than that. Right now, being really early won't be too odd given all the uncertainty going on.

They're sent out 6-8 weeks before the wedding, even before the invention of save the dates. Allow a couple weeks before your caterer needs a final headcount to track down anyone who forgot to reply.
