When to send a friendly RSVP reminder?

Lady Firefly, on September 16, 2014 at 11:20 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 18

Our RSVP date is Monday. Should I send out a group email for those who have not done so by the end of the week or wait till the response date expires?

What did/ would you do?

I sent face book messages to the few stragglers the day before my RSVP date. Just saying, "Hi! I just wanted to remind you to submit your RSVP on our wedding website by tomorrow! Thanks!"

And everyone was fine about it.

I waited, but only until the due date and just sent a message to a few friends and cousins asking them to confirm, most apologized that they had not sent theirs out. I'm still waiting on a few people and my date was 10th

Wait until the due date. I called people a couple days after the due date.

Not till Monday...that was the date YOU set to have them back and should at least give them that time

I said I would wait until the due date (it's this Thursday for me) but I did see a couple of my younger girlfriends at work two days ago and reminded them. But aside from that I am waiting. I definitely wouldn't send an email out until your date expires.

Ok I will wait. Figured maybe since we are having a destination wedding I should give them a heads up so they do have time to think about it if they do decide to make plans.

Our due date is this Thursday. I plan on contacting people on Friday if I haven't heard from them. But I have reached out to a few really close friends who I know just forgot to mail their RSVP card back to me.

I gave people two days outside of the due date, in case some people actually mailed them ON that date (they did) LOL!

Agree with KimS, wait 2 days after the the expiration, because people may have mailed them on the due date, when a calendar reminder popped up or something like that Smiley smile

However - if your RSVP date is close to the date that you have to finalize the catering, for example - like, within 3-5 days of that - then I would actually send a reminder 3 days ahead of the RSVP date, to minimize stragglers.

I sent out some FB inquires on my RSVP date...and I quickly got a lot of responses I was missing. Not surprisingly many of them were no's, a few yes's, and a few that had schedules or situations that they were waiting on hearing back from before they RSVPd...It did quickly clean up my list. The ones that we are still waiting on (are the ones I don't have anything other than address contract for) are his family and some of my parents friends...she also has some people waiting on other details to confirm if they are coming or not. (People I know too).

My due date was 9/12 but I'm still getting RSVPs in the mail so I'm waiting until next week.

If you haven't heard from them at ALL I think you can say, hey just checking to make sure you GOT your invitation since the due date is coming up. I did that with some family members who I don't see as often.

I sent all messages the day after the RSVP date. I texted, facebook messaged, and called.

Our date was the 13th. We started sending emails and FB messages that morning but wait until the due date. We actually had a surprising number of non-responders that are actually coming. A lot of "oh my card is at the bottom of a pile on the counter! but I'm coming and I want pork!" Thanks, good to know were at the bottom of a big pile of crap.

I would wait 3 days after the deadline for those who maybe waited to send them on the deadline. If you gave people until Monday then give them until Monday. Otherwise you are just pestering.
