When to schedule fittings?

So I ordered my gown back in July 2019, they told me it would take about 6-9 months to come in. We are at about the 6 month mark and I know I have PLENTY of time (my wedding is in August), but should I be scheduling my first fitting when the dress actually comes or am I supposed to try to plan ahead a little?? That might sound dumb because obviously I don't have a tracking number for my dress and I don't know when it is coming, I am just nervous!!!

I ordered my dress for my June wedding in July of 2019. It was supposed to take 4-6 months to come in and I picked it up at the end of December. I scheduled alterations right after picking it up-my first appointment is in March. I think you’ll be fine for August because July and August typically slow down for weddings and should be totally doable for a seamstress!

Not sure how the dress shop you purchased from operates, but i had an intial fitting just to make sure that was my dress and the color looked good. I ordered in May of 2018 and it came by November. My first real fitting for my wedding in July is April. I would say give yourself at least 3 months for the initial fitting

I'm having the salon where I purchased the dress do the fittings. When I took the dress home they told me when they need to do the fittings. I'm getting married in September, first fitting in June, second in July and final fitting in August. Leaving almost a month before the wedding date, just in case something more needs to be done.

I assume if you are having the fittings/alterations done at the salon they will tel you when.
