When to Order Azazie Bridesmaid dress- help

Chelsea, on August 10, 2020 at 10:42 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

My wedding is July 10, 2021 and one of my bridesmaids told me about azazie. I think I want to go with them and I love it! However, she told me we should wait to order our dresses till May. My head kinda snapped at her because thats last second to me. I have 7 girls that need to order and alter........

I said January/ February and she kinda gave me an eye roll!!!

The website says 6-8 weeks out but than they need altered. When do you think is a good time to order comfortably?

I personally would do February/March to be safe and that also gives enough time for any alterations that needs to be done! So I don’t think your time of January or February is too early

I would order in January/February (maybe March at the latest). This gives time for them to be delivered (6-8 weeks), but also extra time in case things run late, the wrong dress is delivered/sizing is wrong/color is wrong and they need to order another one, etc, and then also leaves plenty of time for alterations. It's better to have the dress a little early than to get it last second with no backup plan in case things go wrong.

Definitely don’t wait til May for it! I think I would be safe and just do March or April too especially if something is wrong with it or it needs further alterations or delays

I definitely would not wait until May. you need at best 8 - 12 weeks shipping time. Not to mention time to have the dresses altered which depending on your seamstress could take up to a month.

We didn't give our bridesmaids a deadline to order. They knew when the wedding was and how long it would take the dresses to arrive/be altered. We didn't have time to micromanage them and tell them when to place their order.

I agree, May seems super late! That leaves no margin for error. I think February/March seems like perfect timing.

Right now it says their production time is 2 weeks. When I got married their production time was 3 weeks and several of my girls ordered a month before and were completely fine. I would just tell them to keep an eye on their production time and make sure they have it in time for the wedding, don’t give them an arbitrary deadline.

I would aim to order in January/February. Not ordering until May is just asking for a disaster waiting to happen, in my opinion. I’ve ordered an Azazie dress as a bridesmaid in multiple weddings and we always ordered 7-8 months in advance of the wedding, because things like alterations take time.

No bridesmaid dresses ( except designer over $500) should ever be bought before 4-5 months out, and some later. They come in 2 weeks to 10 weeks after order. And Azazie usually arrives within a week of when they say they will. If you measure correctly, this means little or no alterations. That is the point. If our buy dresses so they arrive 4-6 weeks before the date, there is little time to gain or lose weight. People who order a $200 dollar dress 7 months out because the bride pushes and pushes ( for her peace of mind), it fits when it comes in at 5 months, then a 15 pound weight loss of 1-2 sizes means $250-300 alterations, expect the bride to pay for any alterations that would not have been necessary if ordered at the right time. Many people get pregnant or change 10-30 pounds in a few months. Order so your dress arrival is 6 weeks out. Go by what people on WW tell you. Brands want to sell early, and love the business if you have to buy 2 because one bought early is unusable.

I have been in 4 weddings and all were from Davids and took 5-6 months to get my dresses and arranged 120-200.. My friends wedding was 2 weeks ago and her bridesmaid from Davids never showed up and was lost and she ordered it 7 months out. They had to order from another place? Covid times....

But David's delivered 90,000 or whatever in their usual 2 week to 10 week time. That order was messed up for other reasons and could have been messed up if ordered at a year or 14 weeks.
Ask others here, how long to get their David's Dresses as bridesmaids. I have had 4, arrived 2-6 weeks, though all ordered 10-16 weeks out.
When you order dresses far out, it is not all first come, first served. Order from David's at 7 months, and someone with a wedding in 3 months wants that exact dress, no others in stock, they will get a dress in production first, and another produced later will come by your date. For far out orders, they fill by wedding date, give the dresses first to weddings within a few months, then if not needed immediately, for further out. Ordering way early does not get it way earlier, unless a dress few want. That is something people do not realize about the wedding industry.

I'd reach out to Azazie and see their current production time. Production time goes up in the spring before wedding season. Our wedding was July 20, 2019 and the earliest bridesmaid ordered hers September 2018 and the latest was May 2019. Everyone got their dresses on time & figured out alterations if they needed them.

Consider April just Incase? She may be concerned about ordering to early & fluctuating weight, but also consider azazie does custom dresses (for brides not sure about bridesmaids) so instead of having to get it altered you could simply have their measurements taken.

I'd do January/February to perhaps April at the latest since your wedding is early July, just to be safe just in case something goes wrong or it needs to be altered. My wedding is July 25 and I plan on ordering bridesmaids dresses by February at the earliest, I feel better to safe than sorry.
