When to meet with the Dj?

I just booked our DJ this week for my upcoming June wedding. They said they would get with me about good times to meet and talk, but it doesn't sound like it's anything that has to be done right away.

You definitely don't have to even worry about that for a while lol. Most DJ's will reach out to you and set up an appointment, phone call, whatever to finalize things. If you have questions, feel free to get in touch, but otherwise, let them focus on their thing - other gigs, planning process, etc. In the meantime, it helps to come up with a list of songs so you are ready when you have your chat. Start brainstorming a list of important music, yes of course, but also stuff you want to hear and stuff you absolutely DON'T want played.

Our DJ had an online planning tool, so we were able to put in the info there up until I believe 2 weeks ahead of time. When we got to 2 weeks out, we had a phone meeting just so he could go over the form, see if I had questions, verify times, and bam - done.

Our wedding is in August and we plan to meet with our DJ 2-3 weeks prior.

I booked my DJ last July for our June 2019 wedding. I hadn't talked to him since booking until a week ago when I wanted to pay off the balance. I don't plan on talking to him again until after tax season. I think that's the only thing my FH may have an interest in at this point hah! But that may be a stretch.

We met with ours 1 month out, but only did so that early as we were planning from out of state and happened to be in that weekend for my shower — he usually has that meeting about a week or two before the event!

one month out worked okay, but I don’t think I’d recommend meeting much earlier as the nuances of the conversation can get forgotten, and some things may change, including song selection! We were solid on a couple things going into our meeting but hadn’t finalized a couple decisions — we just made sure to get him everything about a week before the wedding

Our DJ needs our music list two weeks in advance. That gives him time to make up our playlist with the songs we want as well as a playlist for the reception/dance music. I think if you create the list, you could wait until a month (maybe two if you want to pay/talk early) before your wedding.

Ours told us he'll get with us again when we're about 1 month out, to go over all of that stuff. It doesn't need to be any sooner than that. We've already signed our contract and paid our deposit. He's going to email me the different checklists he uses to fill out, and then we'll meet and finalize it all.

We booked ours a year plus ago for our May wedding. Just met last weekend for particulars. Plenty of time!

My wedding is in about 40 days and I still have not met with my DJ to finalize I'd say within the last month or two is normal.
