When to honeymoon

Renee, on November 17, 2019 at 8:46 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18
I’m 7 months out from my wedding and the last big ticket item I want to get planned before EOY is our honeymoon. While I’m still not sure where we are going my question is more focused when to go. We are both educators so clearly the summer is ideal but that is also the busiest time of the year.... everywhere. Is anyone waiting to honeymoon or are you recreating the most epic movie scenes of the bride who gets on the plane in her wedding dress? (Okay not that fast but you get what I’m saying!) If not, how long are you waiting?

We left for our honeymoon on Tuesday after our Sunday wedding. We had originally considered waiting a little while, but I started to realize I couldn’t even imagine going right back to work after our wedding! Definitely was so lovely to have that week in the just-married bubble. Our wedding was in June too and we went to the Bahamas... definitely were plenty of people there, but we didn’t feel it was “crowded” 🤷🏻‍♀️

My husband is also an educator so we had to have it be a summer honeymoon which was pricey but that's unfortunately when we normally go on vacations

Thanks for that. Well I say crowded because we were in Europe this summer and it was insane. I mean absolutely disgusting. People everywhere. It was a nightmare. But of course we made the best of it as it was the busy season. I would like to go back to continue where we left off since it’s where we got engaged.
I definitely feel the same way about going back to work after spending time with my husband. I’m going to need a week to get my head wrapped around going back to work!!! LOL

Oh I totally understand. I’m hoping my districts adopts the 7 weeks on 2 weeks off. Or whatever it is. My nieces school does that and it’s wonderful. My brother and the girls can go vacations in September for dirt cheap. I’m totally jealous.

Oh man. I don’t think I could wait a whole year. We thought about that but I’m too impatient for that. I’m already waiting a year to get married!

We got married in May and still haven’t planned a honeymoon. No rush we have a lifetime.

We got married MLK weekend (I was student teaching so no time off) and went away for 3days/2 nights. We left at 6am the morning after our wedding and went to FL. I even brought left over wedding cake in the plane!
I LOVED going immediately after. Being in our bubble and spending relaxing, quality time with my husband was irreplaceable. We’re coming up on our 1 yr anniversary and are taking an anniversary/honeymoon cruise over Christmas break 😊
I would 100% try and do at least some kind of mini get away right after.

Yay! Happy Anniversary! Glad you were able to something. I’ll have to keep that in my book of tricks.

We got married in December and waited to take our honeymoon until the following October. We took the week after our wedding off but would have done so anyway because it was Christmas. We planned it that way so we could relax and enjoy married life without rushing back to work afterwards. Perhaps you can take a few days off or go on a mini-moon then take your actual honeymoon over Christmas break?

I'm getting married on Saturday we're doing a 2 day 1 night trip the Tuesday/Wednesday after wedding and then spending the rest of the week together at our place and having our own couple Thanksgiving!

I’m a teacher so I’m going to be off for 2 months after the wedding. I was just wondering if I should brave the crowds and go immediately after wedding or wait until the off season.

We are getting married on Saturday May 16, 2020 and leaving for our honeymoon Monday May 18, 2020. Why wait? haha We felt it was best to just go somewhere but we're just driving about 4 hours to Portland, ME for 5 days as a little get away. This is very much our style.

I am a huge advocate for celebrating in some way right after the wedding. If you want a big honeymoon get away do it when it works best and makes the most sense for you. My sister and her husband waited a year after their wedding before they could save up for their honeymoon.

We are going about 3 months after the wedding. Timing worked the best for our work schedules and is a great time of year for our destination! I was very against flying the day after the wedding!

Why were you against flying after wedding? Just curious. I’m in limbo. I want to go off in bliss ASAP but we will still have family in town and I would hate to ride off in the sunset when they came to love on us!!!

    A few reasons,

    1. Packing prior to the wedding is just one more thing to do.

    2. All of my family is traveling to where I live for the wedding, so I don't want to rush out of town.

    3. I think we will be busy wrapping things up: returning suits, bring gifts home, unloading coolers, etc.

    4. Most importantly, I know I will be exhausted the day after my wedding. All I am going to want to do is lay on MY couch and sleep in MY bed!

Yeah I think I’m just going to have to suck it up! I feel like it’s part of the entire experience and I don’t want to wait!
